The NEW Way Disney Is Partnering With The Make-A-Wish Foundation!

Although there have been a few setbacks and delays, the Disney Wish will soon make its maiden voyage.

The ship will feature the first attraction on a Disney cruise ship, as well as a dedicated Star Wars Lounge, and Frozen and Marvel dining experiences. And, with the maiden voyage just around the corner, Disney has shared that the Wish has become an honorary “godparent” — we’ll explain.

Disney Cruise Line recently announced that ALL Make-A-Wish children (including past, present, and future recipients) will become the godchildren of the Disney Wish. This marks the first time in the cruise line’s history that children have been honored like this and “symbolically bestows good fortune on our newest ship.”

The Make-A-Wish godchildren will be featured as a part of the ship’s christening, which Disney will livestream on the Disney Parks Blog on June 29th at 11AM EST. The “godchildren” will be joining “godmothers” that include Patty Disney, Tinker Bell, Jennifer Hudson, and Mariah Carey.

Disney Cruise Line is also releasing a new exclusive line of merchandise, with 10% of all proceeds of purchases made through July 18th, 2023 going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Expect to see plushes, ears, pins, a new tumbler, and a spirit jersey in this new collection that can be found in the gift shops on the Disney Wish. Not cruising anytime soon but want to get your hands on the merch? Select items will be available on shopDisney as of July 18th.

In addition, Disney Cruise Line has also donated a stateroom on the Wish to a benefit that raised more than $260,000 for Make-A-Wish and Give Kids The World Village.
