PHOTOS: NEW Look at What EPCOT’s World Celebration Will Look Like

EPCOT is in the middle of a big park transformation, and even though we’ve seen a LOT of things open so far, it’s not complete yet!

So far, Disney has opened new rides, a new gift shop, new restaurants, and more. But, one of the biggest parts of the transformation comes in the center of the park — in World Celebration!

It has been a while since Disney mentioned any news about the changes coming to World Celebration, but in a presentation today they shared an update, including some new concept art. First of all, they noted that World Celebration “will offer a beautiful hub divided into several different gardens, with a central planter based on the five-ring EPCOT logo.”

Disney had previously mentioned that World Celebration would house a festival hub for EPCOT’s four international festivals, and now we know exactly what that new location will be! Two new spots — CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza — will be home to festival events with a multi-use space.  (Shown in the upper right corner of this concept art.)

CommuniCore Plaza will be an outdoor area with the flexibility to host a giant concert stage or an intimate performance that extends into the gardens nearby. CommuniCore Hall will be an indoor space that’s the first “fully purpose-built structure in festival programming.” It’ll be home to an exhibition and gallery space that can host a wide variety of experiences like food, fine art, and more. Inside, there will be a demonstration kitchen and mixology bar that gives chefs the space to showcase the “global experiment of food.”

Moving back to the middle of World Celebration, let’s talk about those gardens! They’ll have ample seating and shade, inviting guests to “connect with one another and the nature around you.” Each garden will have its own identity and its own character, with the ability to amplify festival programs throughout the year.

At night, these gardens will take on “new life” with controllable lighting that evolves throughout the seasons. They’ll take the experience of Spaceship Earth’s Beacon of Magic and showcase it all throughout World Celebration through special effects.

Disney Imagineer, Zach Riddley, recently shared more details about each new area on Instagram!

  1. I like them incorporating more trees. Future world was wide open, concrete, no shade previous. The best part will be the removal of the barriers. The barriers in my pictures for years was not a good look. I am all for EPCOT finishing and allowing guests to freely move about this area.
