You Can't Miss Disney World's Newest 50th Anniversary Addition (Literally!)

Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebrations begin in just about a month!

Preparations are in full swing around the parks, with 50th banners going up and all kinds of new merchandise in the gift shops. And, today, we spotted a BIG change in the Magic Kingdom that gave us a peek at what celebrations are to come!

This morning, we made our way down Main Street, U.S.A. ready for another day in the parks, but we didn’t get far before a new addition to the Cinderella Castle plaza caught our eye — a HUGE 50th Anniversary stage!

The stage is star-shaped with four points and is located just in front of the castle’s plaza.

It has a blue top with the 50th Anniversary logo and surrounds the iconic partners statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse. Plus, the sides all around the stage are the EARidescent color with hues of purple, blue, green, and yellow that’s been used for a lot of 50th Anniversary merchandise and decorations.

Looking closer, we noticed that the stage is lined with LED lights, so it’ll be able to light up all around the edges. It’s not clear exactly what will be taking place up here, but with the 50th Anniversary TV Special approaching quickly, Disney could be planning to use it for some filming.

For now, it’s blocked off with some plants and other covered equipment but we’ll keep an eye out for more updates so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!

UPDATE: We visited Magic Kingdom just a few days after the initial date of this post and saw that the 50th Anniversary stage has been removed. We’ll be on the lookout for more updates.
