BREAKING: Disney World Annual Pass Sales Get a Return Date

Prior to Disney World’s reopening last year, Disney announced that they would not be immediately selling Annual Passes. That pause on Passes has continued until now, over a year later (except in some very specific cases).

However, it was announced earlier this month that Disney World would be selling Annual Passes again, with a promise for the program to return prior to the 50th anniversary on October 1st.

Today, Disney announced a date for the return of Annual Passes, with sales scheduled to resume on September 8th!

Previously, we’ve seen Disneyland revamp their own Passholder program, changing to the new Magic Key. Disney World will be doing something similar, bringing back Annual Passes with a new program.

The new program will include customizable options and add-ons, the option to reserve more Park Pass reservations, as well as select Passholder perks.

Current Passholders will be able to continue using their Pass, until it is time to renew when they will need to renew into the new program options. Additionally, current Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Platinum Plus Passholders will be able to hold more Park Pass reservations at a time beginning September 8th.

It’s important to note that in an effort to manage attendance, Disney has shared that Annual Passes can sell out, so if you are looking to purchase a new Annual Pass you will want to set an alarm for September 8th!

  1. Hi,
I live in NJ and got a refund on our annual passes. We are considering a February 2022 trip. We are DVC members. If I purchase our passes in September, but do not use them until next year, do you know what my use year would be? Would it renew when I purchased or date of first use?
    Thanks,
    Donna

    1. I just called Disney because I had the same question as Donna. If I need to buy my annual pass because they are limiting the number of passes issued, when does the annual pass begin…the day I purchase or the day I use it? The first person I spoke with in ticket sales did not know the answer and transferred me. The second person said that the annual pass begins the day you use it, not the day you purchase. I wonder if someone at AllEars.net can confirm.
      Thanks,
      Linda
