PHOTOS: Tom Sawyer Island Has Reopened at Disney World!

Last year, the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island were closed for a lengthy refurbishment.

As a part of the refurbishment, the water in Rivers of America was drained.

However, the waters eventually returned to Rivers of America and we recently saw the Tom Sawyer Island rafts being tested back on the water! And now, Tom Sawyer Island has reopened to guests again! You once again can board Huck and Finn’s raft to get to the Island.

It’s nice to be back out on the Rivers of America and feel the Florida breeze on your way to your next adventure!

When you reach land after your journey across the river, you can revisit all your favorite spots, or explore even more of the entirely reopened island.

You’re even welcomed back to the island by Tom himself! And he’s right — if you like dark caves, mystery mines, bottomless pits, shaky bridges, and big rocks, you’re in a great place!

While you’re on your exploration, you can get a closer look at the fresh coat of paint over at Harper’s Mill. Tom was certainly busy at work while we were away!

But, some things are best left untouched. And we’re glad that you can still pass by Huck, Tom, and Becky’s signature on their half-painted fence.

You won’t be able to stop by Aunt Polly’s just yet. But, it’s not uncommon to see this dining spot closed up. Aunt Polly only comes around every once in a while to serve up her Biscuit Barbecued Pork Sliders (which are seriously awesome).

We’re excited to see guests being able to return to Tom Sawyer Island and enjoy its refurbishment. In the meantime, we’re keeping an eye on all the construction at Disney World and will post updates when we have them!
