NEWS! EPCOT’s Monorail Line Will Not Return with Park Hopping at Disney World

Disney World will experience a few adjustments this week!

Park Hopping is coming back on January 1st, 2021 with some modifications. The return of Park Hopping has stirred up a few questions for guests visiting Disney World this year. One of the biggest questions is whether the monorail that runs between Magic Kingdom and EPCOT will resume operations.

This monorail route has been temporarily unavailable since Disney World reopened in July. We reached out to a Cast Member on Disney World’s website and asked for confirmation. They replied that at this time Disney does not have a set return date for the monorail.

At this point, Disney World has not confirmed a reopening date for the monorail line to EPCOT.

  1. It’s the same if you pay to stay at one of the monorail line results, like the Poly. One of the biggest perks was to hop the monorail and go to Epcot avoiding bus transportation. We don’t visit until next fall and I sure hope it’s up and running by then.

  2. That’s disappointing. We really miss seeing the monorail run through EPCOT, and taking the highway in the sky for an evening of strolling around World Showcase after a fun filled day at Magic Kingdom.

  3. Makes sense that they’d not run the EPCOT line. Save the cost and wear and tear on the aging monorail cars when the MK to EPCOT traffic can be handled by the busses. Still sad to see. Maybe by the time the 50th rolls around they’ll get it back in service

  4. One of the nice things about park hopping while staying at the Epcot area resorts was the ability to walk to Epcot, walk through, and grab the monorail to go to the Magic Kingdom and do the same in reverse when heading back to the resort. Thus negating the need to take the buses. We are staying at Saratoga at the end of March, but will not get park hopper tickets. With all the limits on their use, just doesn’t seem worth it.
