The holidays are here and Disney World crowds have been picking up lately!

Recently, the limited capacity restriction was increased from 25% of the original capacity to 35%. Disney Park Passes have sold out today and we can see the difference in crowds between reopening and now.
There are certain areas of the Magic Kingdom where the crowds are more noticeable than others. The central hub located in front of Cinderella Castle and narrow paths seemed more congested today. While not as crowded as it was prior to the parks’ closures, it certainly feels more congested than it has on average since reopening.

Over in Adventureland, the line for Jingle Cruise crept all the way towards the bridge entrance. It seemed to be moving quickly back into the land as we approached.

Adventureland was feeling a little packed around the afternoon. Once the rain stopped, guests exited gift shops into the streets. The Pirates of the Caribbean line now extends outdoors for physical distancing which added to the crowds.

The area around Dumbo the Flying Elephant in Fantasyland was attracting a lot of people as well. Guests wandering through the area and ride lines were building up.

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room is seating guests every other row currently. This takes away about half of the theater seating and can sometimes cause increased wait times on busy days. The physically distanced lines were stretching around the building today.

Viewing areas for the Character Cavalcades can also attract crowds. They tend to build up in the Frontierland area leading into Liberty Square.

In addition to the park crowds, Be Our Guest faced a bit of an interruption this afternoon. The fire alarm was set off which drove guests outside of the restaurant.

The combined restaurant guests returning to their seats and guests waiting to check-in grew a large congregation outside. The situation was quickly solved (no real fires, thankfully!) and the crowds dispersed.

Disney World as it is today isn’t built for crowds this size. Even when there’s no pandemic, there often isn’t enough room to walk around in some places. I always feel claustrophobic when walking in Adventureland (top photo here).
