When the Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster debuts, guests will be able to blast off into the cosmos on one of the longest indoor roller coasters ever built.

While Disney World halted construction on many of its projects during the closures, work on different projects around the parks has started up again following the grand re-opening. As Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Cinderella Castle have had construction continue, now the Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster has also started work again!

While we were in EPCOT, we noticed what appears to be NEW panels that have been placed on the roof of the building. The structure used to be home to the Universe of Energy, which featured roughly 2 acres of solar panels on the roof that partially powered the ride. It’s unclear if these are solar panels or just decorative roof panels. Either way, it means construction is underway again!

The OmniCoaster will use the first-ever “reverse-launch into space” on board the ride vehicles with 360-degree movement.

While there hasn’t been much news about how the closures will affect the 50th anniversary, we are glad to see the coaster’s construction back in action!
