Runners have been training and waiting to see what would happen with the 2020 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend now that Disney World has reopened.
Although A Taste of EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival has started in the parks and will run through the Fall, Disney has released an update on this year’s Wine and Dine Half Marathon.
While the marathon will be continuing, the 2020 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend will be converted into a virtual race. The eligible runners will still receive a race shirt and medal when they complete a race.
Disney has stated that registered guests will begin receiving emails on July 23rd about changing their selections before August 5th. If they don’t make a new selection, they will automatically be refunded.
Since many guests registered for the onsite event in Disney World, they will have to options of receiving a full refund for the race or converting their registration to the new virtual event (if they have a U.S. mailing address).
Certain guests will also receive a Disney Gift Card fro the Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and Two Course Challenge races. If guests booked through a charity, tour operator, or Walt Disney Travel Company, Disney has requested that they reach out to the appropriate group for options. Donations that were made to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida will still be delivered to them.
Disney has stated that they still plan on hosting the 2021 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend at this time with more details to come. We’ll keep you updated on any other runDisney news that is shared!

So if you don’t get the refund, you’ll get the runners swag and basically call it a day. Isn’t a large part of the run the fact that you are running IN WDW parks? And then the Food Festival as a part of it? A Virtual run us basically a practice session, but “pay us the money and you can still have the swag.”
