To help celebrate its 30th anniversary, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has unveiled an all-new projection show called the Wonderful World of Animation! This 15-ish minute show features high definition projections on the Grauman’s Chinese Theater. In this tribute to the past 90 years of animation, you can spot clips from every single Disney Animated Classic and Pixar full-length film!
We were lucky enough to see the show this week and we wanted to share some photos with you!
The show begins in black and white as we arrive at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater for a new Mickey film premiere.
Iconic settings and characters come to life before your very eyes — such as the Cave of Wonders from Aladdin…
…Elsa’s Ice Palace from Frozen…
…the lagoon from The Little Mermaid…
The Wonderful World of Animation
…and the Beast’s Castle!
The show also features an INCREDIBLE family!
I was VERY happy to see the underrated Disney movie The Emperor’s New Groove get some love.
And watch out for those villains!
A few other underrated classics are pictured here as well — Robin Hood, The Great Mouse Detective, and The Rescuers!
The show contains various segments including a Villains Montage, a Friends Montage, a Family Montage, a Romance Montage, and a Heroes Montage (below).
The show features a touching tribute to the Mouse that started it all…
…and ends with dazzling fireworks!
This brand new show is a wonderful treat for the whole family and I highly recommend it. There are so many characters and movie scenes, you can watch it again and again and always see something new. This trip through the past nine decades of animation is the PERFECT addition to celebrate Disney Hollywood Studios’ 30th Birthday!
