Four Things Every Honeymooner Should Do At Disney World

Congrats! She (or he!) said yes, and you’ve decided to go to Disney World for your honeymoon!

Now the planning starts. Be sure you add these items to your must-do list as you plan your honeymoon.

Splurge on a Specialty Cruise

You can enjoy a private cruise with one-of-a-kind views of either the Magic Kingdom‘s Happily Ever After or Epcot‘s IllumiNations nighttime spectacular.

You will set sail from the Yacht Club and watch the skies light up over Epcot near International Gateway; or enjoy Magic Kingdom‘s Happily Ever After after from Seven Seas Lagoon with cruises from the Magic Kingdom resorts.

Your cruise will include a captain, and assorted snacks and soft drinks. Celebratory banners and balloons are also included in the fee — be sure to request those when you book your cruise.

To reserve a cruise, call (407) WDW-PLAY or (407) 939-7529.

Dine with a View

Several restaurants in Disney World offer views of the parks, attractions, or nighttime shows.

If you want a view of Magic Kingdom‘s Happily Ever After along with your dinner try California Grill. This is the Contemporary Resort‘s rooftop restaurant, and when you dine there you get to watch Happily Ever After from the top of the resort.

If you prefer to eat closer to the ground, the Grand Floridian‘s Narcoossee’s serves up special meals and views of the Magic Kingdom‘s nighttime show, as well as the charming Electrical Water Pageant as it sails by.

When you are in Epcot, the Rose and Crown in the UK pavilion, Spice Road Table in the Morocco Pavilion, and La Hacienda de San Angel in the Mexico Pavilion all offer lagoon-front views of IllumiNations.

Purchase Memory Maker

Sure, you just finished a day full of photos with your wedding, but let the fun continue with Memory Maker. You’ll find PhotoPass photographers all around the parks, and even at some resorts ready to snap your picture.

PhotoPass Photographer

Plus, you might even find a “visitor” or special effect in your photos when you receive them if you have your picture taken where Magic Shots are located. Magic Shots vary by park, event, and season. Be sure to ask your PhotoPass photographer if they have a MagicShot.

In addition, you can book a private photo session through Disney’s Fine Art Photography program. Depending on the package you select, photo sessions may include lighting, staging and other techniques guaranteed to transform your event into a masterpiece of memories with a professional photographer.

You can schedule a photo shoot at any theme park or Disney resort — your photographer will guide you to the best backdrops within the chosen venue.

For additional information or to reserve a portrait session,  call (407) 934-4004 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM (EST) 7 days a week.

Show That You’re Celebrating!

Share your news with everyone by wearing Just Married buttons or the special bride and groom ear hats!

You can find a variety of celebration buttons at any guest relations location, some stores, and at your Disney resort registration or concierge desk.  You can find Happy Birthday, 1st Visit, and I’m Celebrating buttons at these locations as well.

You’ll find the special ear hats wherever ear hats are sold — no, seriously, you’ll find them for sure at The Chapeau in the Magic Kingdom.

Then, the fun begins! You’ll find when you are wearing these buttons or ears that you will receive all kinds of congrats and well wishes from cast members in the parks, resorts, and at restaurants. Sometimes even your fellow guests will wish you well! Plus, these are fun (and, in the case of the buttons, free) souvenirs to take home.

  1. We started our honeymoon in WDW in September 2000. We got the bride and groom ears and received lots of special treatment. I also surprised my husband with a brick at the TTC…

  2. We had our honeymoon there 30 years ago this July. One highlight was eating in the castle at the then King Stefan’s banquet hall. No reservation required other than checking in that morning. We had a table that sat in the window looking out over Fantasyland. No characters back then. Just a nice, romantic dining spot. We will be going back to WDW this year with an annual pass. We’re planning a year long celebration.

  3. 1986. 33 years ago this September. Liked magic Kingdom, but loved EPCOT. It was an inspiring place back then. Our first meal was at the Nine Dragons in Japan. Favorite ride was Listen To The Land & World of Motion.

My tip would be to vow not to return every year. Maybe every 5 years. That way you won’t burn out on the place.

  4. Our honeymoon was in Magic Kingdom 42 years ago this May. That was the only park open. This year we are taking our 3 grandchildren for the first time.

  5. We honeymooned there 10 years ago this summer and we both will never forget it.
We enjoyed California Grill, Sea Raycers, and excellent hotel (Beach Club). But I think the best moment was taking the small boat from Polynesian over to MK watching the fireworks on the lagoon. Was such an amazing trip.
