Why Disney Adults Are Suddenly Changing Their Minds About This Hollywood Studios Icon

Big changes are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and some fans are not happy about it.

The new Walt Disney Studios section is coming to where the Animation Courtyard formerly stood. We’re so looking forward to this new section of the park opening this summer. One of the design aspects we’ve been looking forward to most is the Sorcerer Mickey hat coming to the land, and now, it’s HERE! However, now that it is in, fans have a lot of opinions.

The Sorcerer Hat is in front of the former Star Wars Launch Bay building, which will soon become The Magic of Disney Animation, which is expected to open in late summer. Stepping inside the reimagining space, you’ll find that the animators have all stepped away, and the characters have come to life. The spot is inspired by Disney’s iconic short “Once Upon A Studio,” and it’ll be a spot where kids and adults can laugh, draw, dream, and explore new animated experiences.

However, fans were not happy, and they let their opinions be known. One of our readers wrote, ” The cost-cutting measures at Disney have really gone too far with this.” Another said, “Eh, looks kind of like a cheap knockoff of the first one.” Another simply wrote, “It doesn’t look the same.”

Although several other readers were excited! One wrote “Yay!!!! Truly magical and makes my heart so happy.” Many guests were happy that the iconic Sorcerer Hat was finally coming back to this park after it went away in 2015. It was built in 2001 as part of the 100 Years of Magic Celebration, and was an icon many people associated with the park, even after its removal. While this new version isn’t exactly the same, there’s a reason for that.

You see, this Sorcerer’s Hat is not meant to be a replica of the 2001 hat that once stood in front of the Chinese Theater. Instead, it is meant to be similar to the Disney Animation offices in Burbank, California. So while it is a different version of the Sorcerer’s Hat inside the park, we are happy to see some version of it back. It also ties into the overall Animation theme that will be housed in this building.

Also coming to this new area is the Drawn to Wonderland playground, an “Off the Page” meet and greet area, Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! , as well as a gorgeously redesigned outdoor courtyard where you may find characters roaming to say hello!
