EPCOT Expert Drops the BEST Way To Upgrade Your Japan Pavilion Souvenir…for FREE!

EPCOT has long been known for its eclectic collection of souvenirs, especially the international goods spread throughout World Showcase.

In my 30 years of visiting World Showcase, I’ve personally fallen in love with many of these unique offerings. On top of that, a favorite World Showcase souvenir of many members of our AllEars team, myself included, can be upgraded for FREE upon purchase!

Let’s make our way to EPCOT’s World Showcase, specifically the Japan Pavilion’s Mitsukoshi Department Store.

This longtime EPCOT shopping staple is the ONLY current North American outpost of the large and long-running (they trace their origins to the 1600s) Japanese department store chain. The store offers a unique mixture of authentic Japanese items for sale, including clothing, jewelry, books, pillows, household items, manga, toys, authentic Japanese snacks, and even merchandise for superstar Major League Baseball Player Shohei Ohtani.

One of the most popular offerings at Mitsukoshi is these ornately decorated Japanese fans. First of all, they do a great job cooling people off in the middle of summer (and they’re easy to pack), but they are also stunning to look at!

They retail for about $17 and feature beautifully crafted designs…

… each of which echoes traditional Japanese art.

However, you can take the design even further if you purchase one, as it can be personalized for FREE.  On our most recent visit, Cast Members had black and silver pens at their disposal, allowing them to personalize any fan’s color scheme with a name. Not only does it make the fan feel extra special, but you can learn about Japanese culture in the process.

Make sure to ask about this free upgrade on your next visit! The customizable Japanese fans at the Mitsukoshi Department Store in EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion are some of the most unique in World Showcase.
