There is always something changing at Disney World. Some days a new piece of merchandise goes on sale, and other days attractions are closed down for refurbishment.
It appears that when one attraction opens, another one closes. CommuniCore Hall and Plaza officially opened in EPCOT on June 10th, 2024, and shortly after Test Track closed for refurbishment on June 17th, 2024.
Disney World did not waste any time and they were quick get started on the reimagination of Test Track. Overnight, Disney World put up construction walls, and our reporter noted that they could already hear construction noises coming from behind the walls.
In addition to the construction walls going up, a banner was placed out front that reveals a new logo for the reimagined Test Track. Currently, the sign only says coming soon and Disney has not officially announced a reopening date yet.
The walls are extensive and are completely enclosing the Test Track area, including the Test Track SIMporium and the Chevrolet Showroom. These two areas were located in the exit of the ride and included a showroom of Chevrolet cars and a gift shop. Disney has not yet confirmed if these spaces will be changed or updated.
Test Track will be undergoing a refurbishment that is expected to include an update to the exterior of the ride and an overhaul on the inside of the attraction. Disney hasn’t revealed too much yet on what will be changing, but based on the concept art we have seen so far, it appears the ride will be getting a more modern and sleek look. We have seen that Disney has filed a permit for construction that expires on February 28th, 2025, so it is likely that will construction will at least be done by then.
So far, Disney has only released two pieces of concept art for the refurbishment of Test Track. We have gotten a look at the updated exterior, as well as a glimpse inside of the ride. Disney has not released any information about the storyline for the reimagination.
