New restaurants are on the way, exciting hotel updates are coming soon, and we’re getting ready to welcome some brand-new rides. A while back, Disney announced that Test Track in EPCOT would be reimagined later this summer, and now we’ve got a major update!
We search permits recently filed by Disney around the parks and hotels to get an idea of what sort of projects might be coming up in Disney World — and we’ve spotted the very first permit filed for the Test Track reimagining in EPCOT!

A “general construction” permit was filed on April 12th for an address that matches the Test Track ride and show building in EPCOT. General construction is pretty broad, but it does mean that the ball will be getting rolling on this project soon.
The contractor listed on the permit is Coastal Steel, Inc., a company that has been involved in several other major Disney World projects including Expedition Everest, Mission SPACE, Spaceship Earth, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

Disney confirmed that the current edition of the ride will be closing on June 17th for refurbishment to begin, but as of now, we’re not sure how long the ride will be closed. The permit’s expiration date is listed as February 28th, 2025, we know it at least won’t last any longer than that — but we’ll be keeping an eye on any potential updates.

This is not the only huge change hitting EPCOT this summer — the long-awaited CommuniCore Hall and Plaza are opening on June 10th!
