Every once in a while, something unexpected happens in Disney World! From small attraction malfunctions to serious fire concerns, you never know when something might shut down!

On Monday, February 7th, we noticed a few unexpected attraction closures! Let’s find out what happened.
The My Disney Experience app seemed to show that two popular Tomorrowland attractions, Space Mountain and the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, were listed as “Temporarily Closed.”

A little while later, the PeopleMover reopened…

…but Space Mountain was still closed! We knew something had to be going on, so we kept our eyes out for updates.

Finally, a little while later, Space Mountain reopened (and the wait time shot right back up to 65 minutes!).

But then the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover appeared to be closed (again!).

A huge thanks to LizzieGoddard on Instagram for sharing this video with us of the fire alarm and evacuation from Space Mountain.

In regards to the Space Mountain and PeopleMover closure. Reedy Creek Fire Department did respond to the area, but the department spokesperson says there was no fire.

UPDATE: Reports later indicated that a smoking fridge prompted Space Mountain to be evacuated.
A smoking fridge caused the Space Mountain evacuation at the Magic Kingdom this afternoon, according to a Reedy Creek Fire Department union official.
A firefighter unplugged the fridge, he said. Reedy Creek's spokeswoman confirmed there was no fire.https://t.co/q06fZOECwM— Katie Rice (@katievrice) February 7, 2022
According to quotes from The Orlando Sentinel, the Reedy Creek Professional Firefighters communications director stated that one engine responded to the incident. At this point, a firefighter unplugged the fridge, and all other calls to the scene were canceled. We’ll continue to monitor the situation! Stay tuned for more Disney news and park updates!
