Disney World is full of construction all over the resort right now, and with so many of the projects being as big as they are, that’s not looking like it’ll change anytime soon.
However, every time we see a solid update on these projects, we get excited and remind ourselves that the construction walls won’t last forever. Disney’s currently in the process of building an entire new hotel close to Magic Kingdom, and from the looks of things, the project is coming along well!
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is being built on the former home of Disney’s River Country water park near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. It’ll sit next to Pioneer Hall and Tri-Circle-D Ranch, and after Disney scrapped the plans for the original hotel here, Reflections — A Lakeside Lodge, we’re still so happy that something is finally going into this area.
Based on the newest update we’ve seen, thanks to @bioreconstruct on Instagram, construction is coming along well, and the hotel itself is really taking shape.
It looks like Disney is focusing on the pool and lazy river area, seen between the middle and right wings of the hotel, but it looks like there’s another pool in between the middle and left wings as well.
We can also see where Disney is continuing to build new buildings, as well as what looks to be a boat dock to bring guests (most likely) to Magic Kingdom. Right now, there’s no official opening date for this hotel, but if Disney keeps up this pace, we’re hoping it’ll be no later than the end of 2026 or early 2027. Last we heard, sometime in 2027 was the goal from Disney.
This new Disney Vacation Club resort is “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists,” and we can’t wait to see if the actual hotel lives up to the concept art we’ve seen.

I’m in FL now and have seen this property being built. It’s absolutely obscene what they’re doing to the peaceful and serene Ft Wilderness. You took their beach and the complex dwarfs the Restaurant complex. What were you thinking?
