Disney Files NEW Permit for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets

A lot is happening right now in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Animation Courtyard is getting reimagined as The Walt Disney Studios. Muppets Courtyard is closed to make way for Monsters, Inc. land. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will close soon, so the Muppets can move in there.

Ahead of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster re-theme, though, Disney has filed a permit that could hint at a BIG change to the ride.

We’ve seen several permits filed for the ride at this point, and it’s set to close on March 2nd and then reopen in summer 2026, so the work is going to be done quickly. However, a new permit filed by Disney suggests some major construction work will be happening on the ride. The permit is for general construction, but the contractor is Coastal Steel, a company that “offers a complete line of steel fabrication and erection services.”

Now, it’s unclear what kind of structural change the ride will have. We do know the pre-show will be a little different, although the basis for it will be similar to what the ride currently has (as in, it will still take place in a recording studio). We can’t imagine the tracks being replaced, although that would certainly qualify as steel work. But there may be some new big steel set pieces being made for the ride to change it up a bit.

We’ll certainly be keeping an eye on construction once the ride closes (or as much as we can see when the construction walls go up). We’re really excited to see how the Muppets theme for the ride will play out.

We’ll also keep you updated on all the construction happening in Disney World, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
