JUST ANNOUNCED: Opening Timeline for NEW Land Coming to Hollywood Studios

IT’S HAPPENING!!!!!!!

Disney just dropped new details about Walt Disney Studios, the new space coming to Hollywood Studios and replacing Animation Courtyard, and I have never wanted Disney to finish a construction project this fast.

Later in the summer, The Magic of Disney Animation will be opening in Hollywood Studios! This space is going to bring animation to life, just like the short, Once Upon a Studio. Disney says characters will leap from their portraits and draw with us!

Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering are working together to create “Off the Page!”, which will have photo and character opportunities across six departments from the animation studio:

• • Story
  • Layout
  • Hand-Drawn Animation
  • Computer Animation
  • Lighting
  • Effects

The backgrounds for these characters are so cool! For Rapunzel, she’s in the Layout department and is inspired by a classic multiplane camera. If you align your photo just right, the layers of the backgrounds and painted cells come together like magic. Mulan will also be in the Story department, posting with an oversized storybook panel.

Don’t forget to stop by Drawn to Wonderland, the indoor playground inspired by Mary Blair’s original Alice in Wonderland concept art.

A different Disney Jr. show will also be coming to the area. “Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!,” which is also in Disneyland, will be debuting this summer, where you can dance with Mickey and Minnie as they find their friends, Goofy, Daisy, and Pluto, for a party.
