We say it all the time, and we’ll keep saying it because it’s true — Disney World rides WILL have issues on occasion. It’s just part of theme park life!

However, when we say this, we’re talking about the closures that are usually pretty fast — maybe half an hour to an hour long — not the ones that last for HOURS, or happen frequently over, and over, and over again. That’s when we start to get nervous about Disney World rides, because it sometimes means that they’re desperately in need of some TLC, and it’s possible they’ll close to get it, or just push through it. We track the amount of Disney World closures in the parks each and every month (and each day!) to see what’s going on, and we’ve gotta admit — there’s two rides we’re REALLY getting worried about.
Magic Kingdom
Over in Magic Kingdom, the number one ride closure for the month of October was Space Mountain, which closed 34 times in 20 days. YIKES. That’s really not great, especially since this is one of the most popular coasters in the resort as a whole, and often has special overlays during after-hours events for Halloween and Christmas.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh also closed often — 32 times in 18 days, to be exact. This is very strange, especially considering this ride isn’t home to a difficult ride system or technologically advanced animatronics. It is possible that this ride is just getting old and needs some TLC. Considering we’ve seen this ride on the high closures list for a few months now, we’d say it’s perhaps worth a small closure to fix what’s going on.

Finally, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure also had a large number of closures, closing down 32 times in 21 days. While this is a newer ride, the animatronics, combined with the fact that it’s a water attraction, can often cause issues.

We don’t see this ride having nearly as many closures as it did when it first opened back in 2024, so we count that as a win.
EPCOT
Now here’s where we start to get REALLY concerned. Test Track just came out of its year-long refurbishment this summer, and yet it closed 55 times in 23 days! We don’t know how else to ask it — what in the world is going ON with this attraction? Is there a sensor that keeps going off strangely that was added with the new theming? Perhaps there’s an aspect of the theming that will need to be taken out to avoid the trigger, like we saw with the moving guns in Rise of the Resistance. We don’t know for sure, but we’re really just hoping it sorts itself out.

Right behind it was Mission: SPACE, which closed 29 times in 16 days. Still not great, that’s for sure, but considering the Orange side of this ride is the only attraction in ALL of Disney World to have barf bags, we can see why this ride may have had to close more frequently.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, on the other hand, closed 28 times in 18 days, and this one we can totally understand. Again, is it great? No, not at all, but this ride is a trackless dark ride, which can face more issues than other types of rides.

Again, though, we’re hoping it straightens out soon, especially with its refurbishment coming up!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance closed 30 times in 23 days, and while we’re not thrilled about that, it tracks. This is another trackless dark ride with TONS of animatronics and high-tech elements that can cause the ride to go down if something slips slightly out of place. It’s why we don’t recommend waiting until the end of the ride to hop on this one, just in case it goes down and doesn’t come back up!

Slinky Dog Dash, on the other hand, closed 27 times in 18 days, but we wonder if this was in large part due to the weather. We are in the rainy season in Orlando, as well as hurricane season, and lightning will cause outdoor rides to close until it passes. Even if some of these closures weren’t weather-related, this is a wildly popular attraction, and often rides with higher popularity are sometimes more prone to issues.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closed 22 times in 17 days, which is unfortunately pretty normal for this ride. It’s had two refurbishments in the past two years, and while it seems to have helped the closures just a little bit, it still struggles a lot.

We’re hoping that with the upcoming Muppets retheme coming soon, it’ll give this ride a chance to straighten things out and get back on track.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Over in Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest was down 23 times in 19 days, but again, as this ride is outside, it’s entirely possible a lot of these were weather related. This ride is also pretty dated, so we wouldn’t be surprised if it closes for some TLC in the coming years.

Finally, DINOSAUR was down 16 times in 14 days, but we really don’t have anything bad to say about this ride, considering we’re getting close to it being gone forever. Once February 2nd hits, this ride will be closed (along with the rest of DinoLand, U.S.A.), so while we’d prefer it stay open as often as possible so more people can experience it, we’ll give it a pass if it closes frequently after its many years of service.
