I Go to Disney World Without Kids Every Week. Here’s What It’s Really Like.

When Walt Disney first thought of the concept for his theme parks, he wanted them to be places where both kids and adults could come to escape reality for a while.

And, as someone who goes to Disney World without kids pretty much every week — I’m very glad that’s the case. While taking kiddos to Disney World can be magical, it’s also pretty magical without them, too. Here’s what it’s like.

As a currently childless millennial, I go to Disney World nearly every week with my husband and no kids. And while some people think going to Disney parks without kids is weird, I’m here to tell those people to pound sand — because it’s pretty freakin’ awesome. We can do whatever we want — ride roller coasters, eat food, imbibe in some adult beverages — without having to worry about little goblins derailing our plans.

For starters, we have no extra stuff to carry around. No diaper bag, no bag full of pouches of applesauce, no changes of clothes (unless we keep some for ourselves in the car, since we drive!). This makes getting from Point A to Point B all the easier, and we also don’t have to worry about what to do with our stuff when getting on rides.

That brings me to my next point — we don’t have a stroller that we have to go out of our way to park before going inside an attraction or restaurant. Typically, at most Disney World rides and restaurants, you’ll have to park your stroller out front in a designated location and head in sans stroller. This can be a bit confusing and can also add some backtracking to your day.

Since it’s typically just the two of us, it’s MUCH easier to find walk-up availability at table-service restaurants that typically require reservations. For example, right before Christmas last year, we were able to snag a walk-up spot at the Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge with little problems since it was just two people.

What doesn’t really change between going with kids and without — at least for me — are kids’ meals. If I’m after something a little less filling than a full meal, I’ll opt for a kids’ meal at some quick-service restaurants instead. The Cheeseburger Pod at Satu’li Canteen and Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup at Woody’s Lunch Box are two of my favorites!

And, you’ll also catch me unable to resist the draw of Disney souvenirs. There are just so many different collections, apparel, home items, and more that I can’t get enough of, no matter how hard I try to resist. I am a childless millennial Disney Adult, after all. What did you expect?
