“The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” is officially open in Disney’s Hollywood Studios! This new show opened on May 27th, 2025, and we are in Hollywood Studios to give you the scoop.

This new show, based on The Little Mermaid, replaces “Voyage of the Little Mermaid”, which never reopened after the pandemic. It is presented in the same theater in Animation Courtyard. What do you need to know about this new show? We’ve got you covered!
“The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” celebrated its grand opening today. While the show has been offering previews to select groups, it is now open to all guests in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And it has been popular on opening day!

It has been maintaining a consistently high wait time all day. Right around 11 AM, we even spotted the show posting a 100-minute wait time. However, for the most part it has been sitting closer to a 60-minute wait time. At 2 PM, it had a 60-minute wait, and it had one of the higher waits in the park!

While a Lightning Lane sign was installed for the show and we spotted them being offered in the My Disney Experience app, it seems that we might be waiting a bit before the Lightning Lane line will be utilized. When we spoke with a Cast Member, they told us that they weren’t expecting Lightning Lanes to be offered for another month. It could be sooner or later than that, but as of right now, you won’t be able to get a Lightning Lane for “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure”.

There is definitely a lot of excitement for this new show on opening day, and we will be curious to see if wait times remain as high in the future. We will also be keeping an eye on the status of Lightning Lanes to experience the show.

“The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” isn’t the only new addition to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Another new show, “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After” also made its debut on May 27th, 2025. You will find this show over in Sunset Showcase, the former home of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy.

Unlike the new Little Mermaid show, the Villains show has not been posting a wait time in the app. However, we have also seen lots of people eager to see this new show as well.
