At Disney World, lockers might seem like a simple rental, but if you don’t think things through, they can cause more trouble than they’re worth.

Whether you’re stashing your bags for the day or trying to travel light, there are a few unspoken rules you need to know. Here’s what you should absolutely keep in mind before renting a locker at Disney World.
Don’t Plan to Walk Back to the Lockers All Day
We get it – having a designated spot to dump your stuff sounds like a dream when you’re carrying everything around the parks. But here’s the catch: those lockers are not in the most convenient locations.

They’re usually near the front of the parks, which means that if you suddenly remember you left something important behind, you’re in for a long walk. And in Disney World, where every step counts, backtracking can be exhausting. And it can eat up SO MUCH TIME. So, if you’re renting a locker, make sure you won’t need whatever’s in there until the end of the day.
Don’t Forget to Grab Your Stuff on the Way Out
After a long day of rides, snacks, and navigating crowds, it’s often WAY TOO EASY to just leave the park and totally forget you even rented a locker. Since you won’t be heading back there often (see the point above), it’s out of sight, out of mind.

But the last thing you want is to realize back at your hotel – or worse, at the airport – that your bag is still sitting in a Magic Kingdom locker. Set a reminder on your phone, write it on your hand, do whatever it takes to remember before you leave the park.
Don’t Store Your Rain Gear in There
We say it all the time, but the truth is that Central Florida weather is unpredictable, and rain can hit with little to no warning. If you think stashing your poncho or umbrella in the locker is a good idea to free up space, think again.

By the time you make it back to grab them, you’ll already be drenched. A sudden downpour can turn Main Street, U.S.A. into a wet mess in a matter of minutes. Keep that rain gear with you at all times, even if the sky looks clear – it’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and be stuck in a torrential downpour.

Lockers at Disney World can be really useful, but only if you use them wisely. Keep these unspoken rules in mind, and you’ll save yourself from any unnecessary frustration.
