It’s not uncommon to see filming happening around the Disney parks.
Many times, we spot Disney crews filming a commercial, a TV special, or just getting some new photos or videos for their website, but there are times when other companies can rent out parts of the park for filming for a WILD amount of money. We were in Magic Kingdom today and noticed some filming around Tomorrowland, specifically around one ride. Then we realized that one iconic ride was about to have its 50th Anniversary, and we started connecting some dots.
Space Mountain opened in Magic Kingdom on January 15th, 1975, which was three years and about three months after the opening of the park as a whole. That’s right — in just five days, Space Mountain will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary!
The filming we saw in Tomorrowland appeared to be focused on Space Mountain! Based on what we saw, it looked like the film crew was focused on this classic Magic Kingdom attraction. Hmm…interesting, eh?
The crew captured Space Mountain from all angles, so we can’t wait to see how they use that footage!
