Planning for your next day at Universal Orlando?

We get it. You want to be prepared, stylish, and capture every moment, but some of the things we see people lug into the parks are…a choice. We’re here to “lovingly” suggest you leave these five things at home so you can focus on what really matters when you’re at Universal Orlando: enjoying the rides, shows, and butterbeer!
A Backpack Big Enough For a Wilderness Trek
We’ve all seen that person hauling a bag that could double as their carry-on for a two-week backpacking trip. And, we know the temptation to bring everything “just in case” is strong, but Universal isn’t the place for your whole portable pharmacy and five outfit changes. A smaller backpack or crossbody bag with essentials – think sunscreen, wallet, a compact poncho, and maybe a snack or two – is all you really need.

Plus, those jumbo lockers for larger bags aren’t free. And trust us, shoving a giant backpack into a ride locker after three failed attempts will make you question every decision you’ve ever made. Keep it simple, keep it light, and thank us later.
That Gallon-Sized Water Jug
As you know, we are always talking about staying hydrated when you come to Universal Orlando, but lugging around a water bottle that could quench the thirst of a small army? Hard pass.

Universal has plenty of water fountains and refill stations, so opt for something smaller and easier to carry. Your shoulders and bag space will appreciate the upgrade, and you won’t feel like you’re carrying a brick all day.
Heels (or Any Shoes You’d Wear to a Wedding)
It’s the cold hard truth that at Universal Studios, you’re going to do a LOT of walking. That means, your vacation isn’t the time to break in those new stilettos or show off your other fancy heels. You’ll want to stick to comfy sneakers, sandals, or anything designed for hours on your feet. If you wouldn’t wear them to a 10K, leave them at home.

Speaking of things best left at home, maybe skip the high-end jewelry too. Losing a pricey bracelet or pair of earrings on The Incredible Hulk Coaster sounds like a nightmare we wouldn’t wish on anyone.
Your Entire Makeup Kit
Now, we love a good glam moment, but let’s be real – Florida is hot and humid, and Universal is all about action. A full face of makeup isn’t going to survive the heat, water rides, and endless reapplications of sunscreen.

That doesn’t mean you have to skip makeup entirely, but maybe pare it down to the essentials: a tinted SPF, waterproof mascara, and a lip balm with SPF are your new best friends. You’ll look fresh and save plenty of space in your bag.
Your Fancy DSLR Camera
In the age of smartphones, lugging around a bulky DSLR just doesn’t make sense. Your phone can handle everything from selfies to cinematic-quality video without the added weight (or the fear of it getting damaged at the parks).

So, save yourself the stress and leave the camera at home. You’ll have more time to actually enjoy the moment instead of fumbling with settings and lenses.
