Why Is Everyone Wearing High Heels Today in Disney World? The Answer Will NOT Disappoint You

It’s that time of year again in Disney World!

No, we’re not talking about the holidays (although it is that time of year, too); we’re talking about Dapper Day! Dapper Days happen a few times a year across Disney World and Disneyland, and guests are encouraged to dress up in their most dapper attire in the Disney parks. Dapper Day wasn’t created by the Walt Disney Company but instead by a Disney fan! The Dapper Day team wanted to encourage people who love fashion to dress up in the parks in their fanciest attire or vintage outfits. It’s been going on since 2011, and this weekend, a holiday meetup is happening in Disney World, and we are LOVING it!

Yesterday’s Dapper Day event took place at Hollywood Studios, while today’s (December 8th) event is happening at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It’s called the Dapper Day Holiday Outing event! This is the one time of year we can get behind the idea of wearing heels in Disney World — and we saw a LOT of people dressed to the nines.

On the first day of the Holiday Outing, our trusty reporter Breedlove took to the park to see who he could find and made his way to Muppet*Vision 3D at 5PM for the meetup. (If you’re wondering, the date, time, and location can be found on the Dapper Day website.) If you’re in the parks today, December 8th, there’s a 5PM meetup at Dinoland U.S.A.! Of course, our reporter had to grab a pin first!

Then, he started chatting with some of the wonderfully dressed people all around, and we were truly amazed by some of these beautiful and creative outfits. Just look at this incredible holiday-inspired outfit — we give her major props for wearing those boxes as shoes all day!

We also absolutely adored this outfit inspired by none other than Big Bird!

We always love seeing the creativity that comes out of these events. You can wear the fanciest thing in your closet, some nice holiday attire if it’s a holiday event, or take your favorite Disney IP or ride and ask yourself, “What would this look like if it were on the runway?” This is an important distinction, as this is a fashion event, not a Disneybounding event, so the more creative, the better!
