Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party takes place select nights August 9th through October 31st and costs $119-$199 per ticket, depending on which night you go. Dates sell out fast, so you’ll want to grab your ticket ASAP to ensure you can attend the date you’d like to.

There’s so much to explore during this event, it can feel a little overwhelming. But that’s why we’re here — we’re covering it ALL so you know what your must-dos are!

Atmosphere

Magic Kingdom is totally decked out in Halloween decor, and costumes are allowed for people of all ages at this event, so expect to see tons of creativity all around you! We will admit that a lot of folks aren’t in costume for this first party because it’s a little warm out. We dressed for the weather, but we’ve got the Halloween spirit!

Let’s do this!

Party guests can enter the park as early as 4PM, but the party doesn’t actually start until 7PM. You’ll receive a special wristband to wear during the party to signal to Cast Members that you’ve paid for an after hours ticket.

If you’re entering the park at or after 4PM, you’ll be directed to a special entrance only for party guests!

Shortly after we entered the park, it started to rain. But rain won’t stop the party!

You’ll be able to pick up a free treat bag. Pro tip: these bags are SO small and you get a LOT of candy, so we often bring our own bag, too.

There are locations all around the park where

At the beginning, Cast Members were handing out these bags of candy.

YUM!

We’ve seen full-size candy at the party in the past, but our reporters described this as not quite full-size and not quite regular Halloween candy size.

We then picked up a guide map for the evening to show us where all the festivities were!

The map!

They are super handy and have everything you need for the evening. You can also look at the guide on the My Disney Experience app if you don’t want a handheld version!

We recommend getting acquainted with this map before the party officially begins so you’re not lost trying to find your must-dos.

Don’t forget — you CAN dress up at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! We always spot some of the best costumes here. For example, check out the Sanderson Sisters!

Although you aren’t usually allowed to dress up, there is an exception for the party.

Crowds

At first, it did seem like a LOT of people were heading towards Magic Kingdom at 4PM.

However, once we got inside, it wasn’t that bad at all!

Ready to party!

If you’re planning on meeting Jack and Sally at Town Square Theater, be prepared to wait. The line was already at 120 minutes when we arrived — yes, this is before the party officially started!

Yikes!

Our best advice is to head to this line FIRST as soon as you get to the park if it’s on your list of must-dos.

Merchandise

This year’s merchandise collection includes Minnie ears, an Annual Passholder tee, an ornament, and a coffee mug. You can ONLY get these items during the party!

Head to Star Traders in Tomorrowland or the Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A. to find them.

Characters

When we entered the party, Cruella was welcoming visitors to the park! She looks absolutely, positively EVIL.

Disney promised more villains this year and right as the party started, Maleficent showed up! She is a pretty rare character to see in the parks so we were thrilled.

We also got to see Donald, Daisy, Minnie, and Goofy in their Halloween costumes!

And we spotted Jafar, who was VERY menacing, as always.

Rides

One of the biggest perks of the event is the low wait times for rides and attractions. Luckily 23 of them are open during the party! This includes Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (the park’s newest ride) and TRON Lightcycle / Run.

Both of these attractions typically use a Virtual Queue system, but during the party, they have a standby line. PLUS some rides also have special overlays for the party! These include:

  • Mad Tea Party
  • Space Mountain
  • Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor

It’s a great way to experience some of your favorite attractions in a slightly different way. And don’t underestimate Space Mountain — that ride in the pitch black is SCARY.

Food

You won’t run out of new things to eat at this year’s event! We tried a TON of the food items so you know what’s worth it…and what’s not.

Yum!

Seriously, there are SO MANY new food items at this event, it’s hard to be able to decide what’s worth your time and what’s not.

Let’s give it a try!

But again, that’s where we come in! We tried them ALL last night so you know what you should spend money on. No matter what you decide though, we do recommend grabbing your food earlier in the night and mobile ordering, so your favorites don’t run out and you’re not waiting forever in line!

Trick or Treating

We can’t forget about one of the most popular parts of the party — trick or treating! You’ll find all the treat spots listed on the map you pick up when you arrive, and can collect the candy in the free bag you’re given.

Treat Station

Each station is marked with a large light up orange sign that says “TREATS!” so you can’t miss them! If you’re looking to collect a ton of candy, we suggest bringing your own bag — the bags they give you are pretty small, and you want to make the most of the free offering.

Yay candy!
