It’s only been a few hours and we’re already learning SO MUCH at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event!
We’ve already been seeing some incredible booths on the general exhibit floor, and may have even gotten a look at what the potential Pandora expansion coming to Disneyland Resort could look like! But we just got some Disney Cruise Line news you need to see!
Disney Cruise Line has many new ships on the way, but the one closest to opening is the Disney Treasure, which is set to sail in December 2024. We’ve heard SO much about this new ship over the course of the last few months, and we can’t wait to experience all that it has to offer.
While we’re excited for everything, yes, we’re also ESPECIALLY excited for some of the new lounges we’ll be able to experience on board. Two of the most notable are the Haunted Mansion Parlor, which is a lounge wholly dedicated to the iconic attraction, and the Periscope Pub, which is a lounge themed to 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea!
We’ve seen some pretty amazing concept art for both of these new lounges that have us EXTRA pumped, but now we have another sneak peek — the Cast Member costumes for both areas have been revealed at D23’s The Costuming Artistry Behind Disney Experiences panel!
The costumes for the Haunted Mansion Parlor appear to be very similar to the costumes we see at Haunted Mansion in Disney World and Disneyland, which we love! Those costumes are so iconic, we love that they’re making their way to the high seas. The costumes will also feature Easter Egg-riddled accessories, including a mysterious set of keys.
As for the Periscope Pub costumes, they’re an elevated take on the crew uniforms featured in the 1954 film! Not only that, but they also pay homage to the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage attraction with a custom pin that’s inspired by one that used to be worn by Walt Disney World Cast Members in Magic Kingdom.
The Disney Treasure is currently getting its final touches as it prepares for sailing later this year!
