D23 was a WHIRLWIND, friends!

We got tons of new announcements for Disney Cruise Line and got to see SO many cool souvenirs (some of which you can now buy online), but the largest announcements were that there are TONS of new attractions and experiences coming to the Disney parks. Disney World alone has SEVEN new rides on the way, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Starting off strong with the retheming we’ve all known was coming for over a year now, but we’ve just been waiting to hear more details — we know that DinoLand U.S.A. WILL be transformed into an area themed to the Tropical Americas, but we now know it’ll be called Pueblo Esperanza!

The new town Esperanza will be situated in Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The town features classic Spanish-style architecture in the heart of the rainforest.

In this area, there will be THREE new attractions. The first of which is Encanto-themed and will take guests through the Casita, where they’ll get to see characters from the film!

A new attraction themed after the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Encanto” follows Antonio the day after he received his magical gift – the ability to communicate with animals and is situated in the new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The second ride will be an Indiana Jones attraction (NOT the same one that’s in Disneyland — this will an entirely different story!) that will be taking the place of Dinosaur.

The new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom lets guests explore a preserved Maya temple – and the ensuing adventure – alongside Indiana Jones.

The last ride here is a carousel “featuring the resident wood carver’s favorite animals.” If it will look like this concept art, it’s pretty magical.

We’re very excited for all of these, although we will of course miss Dr. Seeker and the perilous journey he took us on. Construction on this area is expected to begin in phases THIS FALL, so get those last rides in ASAP!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

We’re getting a whole new Monsters Inc. LAND in Hollywood Studios and inside of it will be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster!

A new land themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Monsters, Inc.” is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Taking place after the events of the film, Monstropolis need humans’ laughter to power the city. Guests can even ride on a door like Mike and Sully in the iconic scene from the film with Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster. (Disney)

If you’ve ever wanted to swing around the Laugh Factory like one of the doors in the film, this will be your chance! Yes, the ride takes place immediately after the events of the film, so the monsters are collecting laughs, not scares.

At this time, this is the only attraction announced for this new land, which has yet to have a confirmed location announced to the public — we know it’ll be inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but Disney hasn’t announced WHERE!

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom had the MOST new attractions announced — first up is a new Cars land coming to Frontierland! That’s right, the world of Cars is coming to Disney World and will be taking the place of Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America.

The first attraction here is a “thrilling rally race through the mountains. Take on wild terrain as you race across the landscape climbing mountain trails, dodging geysers and — Mater’s favorite — splashing through mudholes.”

Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race.

The second attraction in this area (yes, we’re getting two!) will be more geared towards younger racers, so the whole family can have fun. (Let’s just hope it won’t smell as bad as Tomorrowland Speedway).

The announcement most Disney fans were THRILLED to hear was that a Villains land is finally coming to Magic Kingdom! It’ll be placed “beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad”, and while Disney hasn’t announced WHAT these attractions will be, we know there will be two in this new land!
