This Magic Kingdom News is Proof That Disney Still Knows What They’re Doing

There is something new in Magic Kingdom, and we are fans of Disney’s attention to detail with this brand-new addition.

Magic Kingdom

You may visit Liberty Square for the Haunted Mansion, the Hall of Presidents, or the Liberty Square Riverboat; as for us, we recently visited Liberty Square for a new character sighting. This new character is, well, a projection—not just any projection, but one that shows that Disney still pays attention to detail.

Recently, Disney added a projection of Ichabod Crane in a window above the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. His projection starts about every five minutes, and he sticks around for about a minute and 30 seconds.

We found that when the window starts to turn blue, it means that the projector is turning on, and Ichabod’s shadow will soon be visible.

Now, if you don’t know who Ichabod Crane is, don’t worry; here is a quick lesson! Ichabod Crane made his debut in 1949 as the main character in the short film The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, which is fitting since Sleepy Hollow Refreshments is right by the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe.

Ichabod also starred in the Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. Speaking of Disney paying attention to details, there is a nod to Mr. Toad in Liberty Square. While his attraction no longer lets you take a wild ride in the Magic Kingdom, you can enjoy it in Disneyland. To pay tribute to this attraction, Mr. Toad can be found in the pet cemetery at the Haunted Mansion. The next time you exit the attraction, keep an eye out!

Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride used to be where the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh now resides. To pay homage to the attraction, you can spot a picture of Mr. Toad while you ride.

Speaking of new Magic Kingdom details, two attractions just recently re-opened, and of course, Disney made sure to add little details and Easter eggs in these two attractions.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened last month after being re-themed from Splash Mountain. We are glad that Disney was able to get this attraction open during the summer. That way, there was a water ride in Magic Kingdom to give you a mid-day cool-off.

Not only was the opening timeline of this attraction perfect but there are so many hidden Easter eggs in the queue, which is perfect to keep you entertained while you wait to go down the Bayou. One of our favorite details is right above Tiana’s desk. If you look closely, you will see a picture of young Tiana and her parents. There is also a bear, rabbit, and fox statue on the shelf. These are a nod to Br’er Bear, Br’er Rabbit, and Br’er Fox from Splash Mountain.

The Country Bear Jamboree also recently re-opened this month in Magic Kingdom with a brand new show. We love that Disney decided to keep the attraction instead of building a new one.

Country Bear Musical Jamboree

While we do miss the original songs, this update was needed for younger audiences to want to see the show. This change also brought about new details in the waiting area.

Country Bear Easter Eggs

There are now displays where you can see Country Bear memorabilia and learn about their past. We especially love Big Al’s vest displaying all his patches from his farewell tours.

The vest shows he has visited exotic places like Paris and Cairo, but on closer examination you see the fine print — Big Al’s tour made stops in Paris, KENTUCKY,  and Cairo, ILLINOIS. Funny! Check out all of these magazines!

While things like projections and animal statues may not seem that exciting, it is exciting for Disney fans as it shows that Disney is still paying attention to the small details.
