See a CONTROVERSIAL Part of EPCOT Be Demolished!

Sure, the Magic Kingdom has some cute little details, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios has that old Hollywood look. But let’s be honest, EPCOT has some of the prettiest locations in Disney World! Seriously, have you seen the Morocco pavilion?

EPCOT has so many beautiful areas!

From the gardens in World Celebration to the countries in the World Showcase, there are so many beautiful places to see in EPCOT — except for one hotly-debated spot right in the middle of the World Showcase.

If you’ve been to EPCOT in the past few years, you likely noticed the large Harmonious barges in the World Showcase lagoon. The barges were used during EPCOT’s Harmonious fireworks show, though now that EPCOT Forever has returned for a limited time, the barges are no longer needed.

Harmonious barges

The barges are on their way out, and we’ve been keeping our eyes on the (de)construction process. These big guys have been a controversial addition to the World Showcase since their debut, and we have a feeling there were lots of cheers when the first barge by the Italy Pavilion was removed.

The barges weren’t exactly the most elegant thing to grace the World Showcase…

Now, thanks to @bioreconstruct on Twitter, we’ve got a backstage look at the current state of the barges.

It looks like a wish is finally coming true for many people — the barges are leaving EPCOT! We’ll be sure to keep watching for additional, so stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news!

  1. Thank goodness those ugly monstrosities are gone! I’m looking forward to my next visit in July. First stop, World Showcase lagoon to take in the beautiful, restored view with a glass of champagne from the France pavilion in hand.
