The CHANGES Disney Needs To Make to the Skyliner!

The Disney Skyliner needs to CHANGE and you all have some serious thoughts on what should happen next!

Disney Skyliner

Right now, the Disney Skyliner connects EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Disney’s Art of Animation. But what if the Skyliner could do more? What if it could make transportation easier and more convenient for guests at other hotels? Where should it go? That’s just the question we posed to YOU via Facebook and we got some very clear answers!

On our Facebook, we posed the following question to our fabulous followers: “If you could add a Skyliner stop at any resort, which would you pick?” Here’s what you had to say!

1 — Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Based on the responses we got, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge appears to be the CLEAR winner in terms of the pick for the next Skyliner hotel. So many of you chimed in to say that Animal Kingdom Lodge should be next.

One follower shared that it is a “[g]orgeous resort” with “wonderful pools” and some of the “best resort dining…but park transportation is horrible.”

Animal Kingdom Lodge

They even went on to propose that Disney “build a walking path to Animal Kingdom and connect the Skyliner from there to Coronado Springs and [connect that to] a station at Hollywood Studios.” Make that change Disney and this follower will “never stay at another resort again.” That’s a BIG promise!

Another chimed in saying that Animal Kingdom Lodge, as a deluxe resort, needs “some other transportation option than the bus.”

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

It is true that the only form of free Disney transportation from Animal Kingdom Lodge to the parks right now is the bus. And considering the resort’s distance from many of the parks, that can be one long bus ride.

Compared to places like Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, and Disney’s Polynesian Resort which all have monorail access, or Disney’s Wilderness Lodge which at least has boat access to Magic Kingdom, the transportation options at this deluxe resort are more limited.

Time to Wait for a Bus

Adding a Skyliner station here would at least give guests a second option to getting them places. Some suggested making a route that would at least connect Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to Animal Kingdom park via Skyliner — creating a careful route (of course) that wouldn’t interfere with any of the animals!

2 — Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts — Riverside and/or French Quarter

In terms of responses, another popular pick was Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — with fans mentioning both the Riverside and French Quarter portions. One follower shared, “I think the Port Orleans Resorts deserve a second form of transportation other than just a bus.”

Another noted that the station could be between the two sides of the Resort, just like how there is a central station located between Pop Century and Art of Animation.

Port Orleans French Quarter

Some followers even commented on just how this could even be connected with other stations or other transportation for greater ease. One shared that if there was a Skyliner route from the Port Orleans Resorts to the front of EPCOT, guests could then take the monorail from there to eventually make their way to Magic Kingdom and the monorail resorts.

Port Orleans Riverside

Another shared that if a Skyliner station was built at the Port Orleans Resorts, then it could potentially be extended to a station over at Disney Springs! And even if a station isn’t built there, the water taxis from the Port Orleans Resorts could connect you there, still giving you another non-bus option.

For now, Port Orleans only really has the bus service to the parks and a water taxi to Disney Springs, but who knows what the future could hold.

3 — Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Another very popular pick often mentioned in response to our post was Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Many coupled this with a potential station at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, noting that the two could then be connected. One commenter shared, “There should be a line to Coronado and Animal Kingdom Lodge. These are both great resorts with only bus transportation.

Coronado Springs Views

Another was laser focused on the Skyliner Crawl possibilities, noting that by including Coronado on the Skyliner route, a Skyliner crawl could include Three Bridges Bar & Grill, a restaurant some consider to be highly underrated.

Coronado Springs

Because Coronado Springs now has the “regular” side of the resort along with Gran Destino Tower, a Skyliner station here could serve a lot of guests. Plus, Coronado Springs is a LARGE resort, so a central Skyliner station could help guests connect to other places without having to deal with the internal resort shuttle system.

4 — All-Star Resorts

Another set of resorts mentioned by a few different people was the All-Star Resorts (All-Star Movies, All-Star Music, and All-Star Sports). One shared that the All-Star Resorts should get a Skyliner station because they’re “phenomenal but get no love.”

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort Lobby

Another reader was ready with a game plan, sharing that the Skyliner station could be centered at All-Star Music so it could potentially serve guests at the other two All-Star hotels as well.

All-Star Music

With Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park not too far away, a line that would connect the All-Star Resorts to Animal Kingdom Park and potentially Animal Kingdom Lodge could create some unique opportunities. Stay at an All-Star to save money but dine at Boma to enjoy the finer things in life — not a bad combo!

4 — And MORE

A few other resorts we saw mentioned included Disney’s Wilderness Lodge…

…Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds…

…and Disney’s Old Key West Resort, among others.

But that’s not all.

5 — How About Dreaming BIG?

Some readers did NOT come here to play. One suggested that “every hotel and park not currently on the Skyliner or Monorail” be added to the Skyliner route.

We were sensing a little bit of an Oprah moment — you get a Skyliner station, and YOU get a Skyliner station, and YOU AND YOU AND YOU GET A SKYLINER STATION!!!!!

And hey, we can’t dream a person for dreaming BIG — might as well shoot for the stars, right?

6 — While You’re At It, Bring It To My Place!

But the ones that really took the prize here were the commenters who wanted the Skyliner to do just a little bit more. Maybe it doesn’t need to be limited to Disney World. Maybe…just maybe…the Skyliner could come…to my house? ?

Skyliner

One shared that by bringing the Skyliner all the way from Disney World to their home in Pennsylvania they could save some “substantial airfare,” and yeah, we can totally get that! ? Again, can’t blame a person for trying!

And there you have it — a list of some of the hotels (and other spots!) to which YOU wish the Skyliner would connect. What else would you add to this list? Tell us in the comments!

  1. A direct Skyliner connection between Epcot and DHS would be a quicker alternative to the Friendship boats or the walkway.

  2. Imagine how junky and congested a Skyliner from every hotel to every Park and location imagined at Disney World! It would look like the freeways of LA. Scarring the natural beauty of the landscape.

  3. I just want to know when they will bring back boat service BETWEEN the Bay Lake Resorts: Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness!
