Do you have a backup plan for ride closures in Disney World?
Ride closures are a common occurrence in Disney World, and sometimes it isn’t just one ride, but a few. That’s the case right now in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
We’re at Hollywood Studios today, and we noticed that both Tower of Terror AND Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster were closed.
Part of the problem with Tower of Terror is that it actually has TWO sides, but right now, one side of those elevators is closed for refurbishment. That means that at any given time right now only one elevator is operational. Right now, that elevator is not, which means the whole ride is closed.
Tower of Terror has been struggling to operate today, and now it is officially down. We’re seeing LOTS of guests leaving the ride area following the closure. pic.twitter.com/0kc4CIBqGZ

We spoke with a Cast Member who said they were hoping to have the other elevator back up and running by the end of February. That will also help with the high wait times we’ve seen recently for the ride, too.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster was down at the same time, leaving no rides in this area of the park. These two ride closures could mean that wait times for other rides in the park could go up. The best thing you can do in these circumstances is to be flexible and have a backup plan of other things you’d like to do, like check out Walt Disney Presents or the For the First Time Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along (which just reopened today after refurbishment).
Aaaaand now Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster appears to be down too! Rough timing for both of these rides to go down nearly simultaneously. pic.twitter.com/bbI7wWQhqQ

Both rides have since reopened, but you can also keep checking the My Disney Experience app to see when rides are open or closed. If you can time it just right, you can get in line as soon as those rides reopen with a short wait time.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on rides in Disney World, so be sure to keep checking back with AllEars for more!
