From Restaurant Updates to MagicBand+, Disney Had a BUSY Week!

It’s the final week of July, and a LOT has happened in Disney news this week.

Thanks to San Diego Comic-Con, we got a ton of new announcements about upcoming Disney and Marvel projects. But that wasn’t all, because we’ve also got an attraction update, some new restaurant details, and more! So let’s get to those biggest stories!

MagicBand+ Arrives in Disney World

The new MagicBand+ has arrived in Disney World and online — and we got a chance to check it out! We looked at all the available designs. But more importantly, we got to take our new MagicBand+ to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios to play the new scavenger hunt game where guests can become Batuu Bounty Hunters.

We also got to see how the MagicBand+ interacts with both the Disney Enchantment Fireworks show in Magic Kingdom AND Harmonious in EPCOT — the MagicBand lit up and changed colors throughout both shows. We also got a chance to interact with the 50th anniversary statues throughout all four parks.

Disney World Restaurant Updates

We’ve got some updates for you regarding Disney World restaurants. First, The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers, which we already knew was coming to Disney’s BoardWalk, has revealed its new location — it will be in the old ESPN Club building. The owner of The Cake Shop, Gwendolyn Rogers, shared a photo in front of a “coming soon” sign right in front of the building.

We also saw the closure of BoardWalk Bakery this month to make way for the new BoardWalk Deli that will be taking over the space. The deli will open in late summer 2022. We also saw the BoardWalk Deli’s page on the Disney World website showing hours for the location beginning August 15th from 7AM to 10PM. That could be the opening date, or it may be changed before then. Only time will tell!

We also recently noticed that the deli’s menu was available on the My Disney Experience app for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Expect bagels in the morning, along with some sandwiches and pastries throughout the day.

Merida Meet and Greet Returns To Disney World

Disney’s Scottish Princess, Merida, has returned to her old meet-and-greet location in Magic Kingdom. If you want to meet her, be sure to check the times in the My Disney Experience app.

Note that we’re also seeing more of Princess Jasmine in Magic Kingdom now. Not only is she appearing with Aladdin in Adventureland, but we’ve spotted her at Princess Fairytale Hall a few times, too!

Surprise! The Merida Meet and Greet Has Returned to Disney World

New Details About Moana Attraction

The EPCOT transformation is still underway, and we’re excited about the upcoming Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana attraction. Imagineer Zach Riddley recently shared even more details about it, including a preview of the graphic style that will be used throughout the attraction.

Right now, the attraction is under construction, but we’ll keep following along as we see more and as Disney shares more information.

NEW Details Revealed for EPCOT’s Upcoming Moana Attraction

Marvel Announcements

As we previously mentioned, there were a TON of new Marvel announcements made at San Diego Comic-Con this past week. So we’re going to break them down quickly right here:

• Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 will release on August 5th, 2023
• The next Captain America movie with Sam Wilson as Cap will be called Captain America: New World Order and will release on May 3rd, 2024
• The Secret Invasion series featuring Nick Fury and the shape-shifting Skrulls will premiere on Disney+ in Spring 2023
• Loki season 2 will premiere on Disney+ in Summer 2023

• The Blade movie will arrive in theaters on November 3rd, 2023
• The Hawkeye spin-off Echo series will premiere on Disney+ in Summer 2023
• Ironheart will premiere on Disney+ in Fall 2023
• A new title for the Agatha Harkness series was revealed as Agatha: Coven of Chaos — the series will premiere on Disney+ in Winter 2023
• A new trailer dropped for She-Hulk, which premieres on Disney+ on August 17th

• A new Daredevil series, starring Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, will be called Daredevil: Born Again and will premiere on Disney+ in Spring 2024
• The film Thunderbolts will debut in theaters on July 26th, 2024
• The Fantastic Four is coming to theaters on November 8th, 2024
• Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will debut in theaters on May 2nd, 2025
• Avengers: Secret Wars will premiere in theaters on November 7th, 2025

Finally, a new trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released.
