See How Ride CLOSURES Will Affect Disney World This Week

Most people aren’t expecting to enter a maze when they get inside a Disney World park, but sometimes it can feel like that! That’s even more true when there are construction walls up due to ongoing projects (we’re looking at you, EPCOT!).

Construction Walls

Disney is constantly working on the parks, with several projects going on at once. Before you get there for your next vacation, make sure you know what’s NOT going to be available due to those projects! We’re taking a look now at all the closures that will affect Disney World this week, from July 10th through the 16th.

Magic Kingdom Closures

Walt Disney World Railroad

One of the longest-term closures that will continue through all of this week is the Walt Disney World Railroad. Disney hasn’t announced yet when this attraction will reopen.

Walt Disney World Main Street Railroad Station

Construction on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster has interrupted the train tracks over in Tomorrowland, which means the train can’t pass through that area. We’re expecting the Railroad to remain closed until the TRON coaster is finished, but Disney hasn’t announced an end date for that project.

Enchanted Tales with Belle

Enchanted Tales with Belle is another long-term closure. Disney hasn’t announced yet when this attraction might reopen.

Enchanted Tales with Belle

It is scheduled to be closed for all of this week.

Pete’s Silly Sideshow

Pete’s Silly Sideshow has a general reopening date! Disney has said that it will open sometime “in the coming months,” so at least we know it’ll return.

Pete’s Silly Sideshow

The character meet-and-greet location is usually where guests can meet Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and Goofy. Minnie just joined Mickey over at the Town Square Theater in this park, though, so we’re not sure yet if she’ll be available here as well once this spot reopens.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will be closed for all of this week, but it will reopen on August 25th.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

This salon is where kids (ages 3 to 12) can be transformed into Disney princesses and princes! Note that the opening date is only for the Magic Kingdom location — the Disney Springs and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort locations do not have reopening dates yet.

Harmony Barber Shop

The Harmony Barber Shop is going to reopen this month, although not until the very end of the month, on July 31st.

Reservations are available now, so if you want to get your haircut when this spot opens, you can book an appointment.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Closures

Fantasmic!

The nighttime show Fantasmic! is still closed in Hollywood Studios, and it’ll remain closed for all of this week. Disney has announced that the show will return in 2022, but we don’t have a specific reopening date yet.

Fantasmic

When Fantasmic! does reopen, it’ll have a few updates and changes, including new characters and stunts.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

This Little Mermaid-inspired show does not have a reopening date yet, and it’s scheduled to be closed for all of this week.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

Disney hasn’t commented at all about this closure, so we don’t know when or if it’ll return.

Character Meet-and-Greets at Star Wars Launch Bay

We won’t have to wait much longer for this attraction to open! Guests have been able to go inside the Launch Bay, but there haven’t been character meet-and-greets inside for a while.

Star Wars: Launch Bay

The characters will still be missing for all of this week, but beginning on July 17th, Darth Vader, BB-8, and Chewbacca will be returning to meet guests here! The experiences will be available on Genie+ for guests who purchase that add-on.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Closures

Celebration of Festival of the Lion King

Good news! This show will reopen this week, on July 16th! When it returns, the show will actually be called simply Festival of the Lion King, like it was before the 2020 closures.

Tumble Monkeys are coming back!

Starting on the 16th as well, a few elements that were previously missing in this show will return, including the tumble monkeys and aerial acrobatic birds.

EPCOT Closures

Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360

The film attraction in the Canada pavilion of World Showcase is going to be closed for all of this week. Because this spot is going to be used for the Appleseed Orchard booth at EPCOT’s 2022 Food & Wine Festival, we’re expecting it to remain closed through the end of the festival on November 19th.

Canada Far and Wide

We already have a lot of information about this year’s festival, including all the menus and a complete line-up of the Eat to the Beat concert series.

Disney Water Park Refurbishments

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park

Blizzard Beach Water Park is currently closed, and it’s scheduled to remain closed throughout this week. Disney hasn’t announced yet when this park will open.

Toboggan Racers

In the meantime, guests can visit Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park for a similar experience!

Learn more about Typhoon Lagoon here.

Although several rides and attractions are going to be closed this week, there are plenty of updated and new things to see in the parks! Check out the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind coaster in EPCOT, or meet Minnie and Mickey together in Magic Kingdom.

Hey There Friends!

You can also consider purchasing Genie+, which allows you to skip the standby line at certain attractions. This perk costs $15 per person, per day, and you’ll use the My Disney Experience app to make Lightning Lane reservations at those attractions. Check out our full guide to Genie+ here.
