There are a LOT of exciting updates coming to Disney World in the future!

We’ve got Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind getting ready to open, the EPCOT transformation continuing, and the Tron coaster on the horizon in Magic Kingdom. One of the best ways we can check in on those projects is to follow along with their construction progress, and today, we’ve got some big updates for you!
Magic Kingdom
Starting out with the big project in Magic Kingdom, the Tron coaster continues to make progress. The outdoor area around the ride seems to be getting tidied up as ride testing continues. Still no opening date on this one yet, but we’ll be watching and waiting!

Next door, there’s construction continuing near the Space Mountain gift shop, Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.

The shop remains open, but a large part of the outside is blocked off with a big construction wall.

EPCOT
Ahh EPCOT, the epicenter of Disney World construction! Construction finally seems to be essentially completed on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and we actually got to go inside and take a ride during a media preview! We can’t wait for the official opening on May 27th.

In the middle of the park, construction continues on World Celebration, as well as Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana. Several structures are being built in the middle currently, including some rocks that appears to belong to the new attraction!

In the Italy Pavilion, the tower is getting a nice refresh and paint job. The work seems to be happening outside of park hours, but we’ve been watching it progress each day.

It shouldn’t affect your visit to the pavilion.

Hollywood Studios
In Hollywood Studios, we have a newer scrim up at the exit of Toy Story Mania! This ride’s gift shop has been getting some major work done over the past few weeks, and currently, the exit of the ride is slightly altered because of it. We’ll continue to watch and see if any of the shop’s updates get revealed soon.

And finally, we spotted some newer construction wall in Galaxy’s Edge. It blocks off a building next to the “speeder mechanic” area where you can often find Rey and Chewie or the Stormtroopers greeting guests. The wall has the new bounty hunting symbol for the MagicBand+ activity set to take place in Galaxy’s Edge, so we’re interested to see if something gets added here related to that activity.

That’s it for today! Stay tuned to AllEars for more construction updates and news on the latest projects in Disney World. We’ve got all the details you need for your vacation!
