Get a Peek at the Loading Zone INSIDE EPCOT’s Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster

Grab those mixtapes and Walkmans — it’s almost time to hop on the Guardians of the Galaxy ride in EPCOT!

Things Are Looking Good

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has been making steady construction progress for quite some time now. We’ve seen a GIANT ship constructed in front of the attraction and more items added in recent weeks. But now we’ve gotten a special look at what wonders the INSIDE will hold!

Recently, via Instagram, Imagineer Zach Riddley shared a look at the loading zone for the Guardians of the Galaxy ride and more information about the upcoming attraction!

According to Riddley, Imagineering first revealed some of these images in the D23 magazine. Riddley shared that the loading zone is a “stunning space” where guests will get to step aboard a Nova Corps ship and load into their very own ride vehicle. In the post, Riddley actually shared that the vehicle will be called a “Starjumper” vehicle.

Here’s another look at part of the space with the team inside. We can’t wait to see what it looks like once it’s all finalized.

Riddley said that, once aboard, guests will get to “take off with the Guardians of the Galaxy on a race through time and space!” According to the official Disney website for the attraction, guests will begin their journey in the Galaxarium — which is somewhat similar to a planetarium. There, guests will see an exhibition showing the similarities and differences between Earth and Xandar’s galaxies. Guests will also get to learn more about Xandar and its technology.

But, in true Disney and Marvel fashion, just as the end of the tour approaches, things go a bit…sideways. It’ll be up to you to help the Guardians of the Galaxy in their quest to save the galaxy!

The attraction will feature various unique aspects, including the first ever reverse-launch on a Disney coaster. It will also be one of the longest enclosed coasters in the world.

The team at Disney has been testing the system being used for the attraction, called an Omnicoaster. Riddley noted that he has had the chance to experience the ride and that it is “unlike anything” they’ve ever done before.

We’ve actually seen a video of the coaster in motion and it is very interesting! Think omnimover (like the vehicles you’re used to seeing at the Haunted Mansion) but wayyyyy faster!

We’ve also gotten to see a bit of the inside of the attraction ourselves, though it was still very much in progress at the time.

The ride is currently set to open in the summer of 2022, though an exact opening date has yet to be revealed. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for more updates about the attraction and we’ll share those all with you. Stay tuned for the latest updates!
