Disney World’s been seeing plenty of changes for its big 50th anniversary. And, one of the updates that many fans are excited about is the modified return of character meet-and-greets on November 19th!
However, these meet-and-greets will be a little bit different than before. Guests will still be able to have one-on-one time with characters while taking socially distanced photos. But, autographs and hugs won’t be back just yet. And, to further show the difference between these and the meet and greets we used to know, Disney has renamed them!
According to Disney’s website, the five modified meet and greet locations will actually be referred to as character “sightings.” This is what you’ll see on Disney’s park maps and on the My Disney Experience app beginning November 12th as well.
We spotted the change on the pages for Mickey Mouse in the Town Square Theater…
…and Cinderella…
…and Tiana at Princess Fairytale Hall in Magic Kingdom.
Plus, the name change was also on the pages for Minnie Mouse at Red Carpet Dreams…
…and Disney Junior Pals at Animation Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
So far, the confirmed character meet-and-greets include:
- Disney Junior Pals at Animation Courtyard
- Minnie Mouse at Red Carpet Dreams
- Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater
- Cinderella and Elena at Princess Fairytale Hall
- Rapunzel and Tiana at Princess Fairytale Hall
We also noticed that Disney’s website for the Anna and Elsa meet and greet location (Royal Sommerhus) has been updated with the new “sighting” language. However, Disney has not confirmed whether the two princesses will be meeting again anytime soon at EPCOT.
Of course, we will continue to keep you updated on when more characters return to greet guests in Disney World. And, in the meantime, stay tuned with All Ears for more of the latest Disney entertainment and news!

Sounds like this is going to stick around for a long time. I kind of like it better. Seeing the characters is not just for kids, but also, I don’t want to wait in line to meet them. I’ve always just enjoyed seeing them randomly out and about and keeping them distanced for some reason seems more exciting than awkwardly trying to think of things to say up close.
Just name it LAME.
