Three Reasons You Should Stay in a Walt Disney World Moderate Resort

Walt Disney World offers three tiers of Resort hotels: Value Resorts, Moderate Resorts, and Deluxe Resorts. These tiers correlate to price and to the number and quality of hotel amenities. Nicer and more expensive than Value Resorts, but not quite on the same level as Deluxe Resorts, Moderate Resorts sit right in the middle.

Three Reasons You Should Stay at a Moderate Resort at Walt Disney World!

Quality

The first thing you’ll notice when comparing Value and Moderate Resorts is the jump in quality. Overall, Moderate Resorts tend to have better theming and more spacious and thoughtfully-designed rooms compared to Value Resorts. For example, the Cabins at Fort Wilderness feature immersive, unique details that you’ll only find at this Resort.

Another example is the meticulous theming at Port Orleans French Quarter. From the architecture to the food, there’s so much at this Resort that will transport you instantly to New Orleans.

Port Orleans — French Quarter

The more immersive theming and more spacious rooms in this tier come across as more tasteful and more comfortable than the Value Resorts, and for many guests, this is a big draw. The quality shows through in these elements.

Deluxe Amenities Without Deluxe Pricing

One of the big appeals of Moderate Resorts is that they offer some Deluxe Resort amenities without that Deluxe price tag! The best example of this is Coronado Springs Resort, especially its new Gran Destino Tower! With a spa, two fitness centers, and tons of dining options (including elegant rooftop options), Coronado is the ultimate bang for your buck Moderate Resort!

While not all the Moderate Resorts offer quite the same level of amenities as Coronado Springs, they all do offer amenities above and beyond the Value tier. Port Orleans — French Quarter and — Riverside offer outdoor activities like rides in a horse-drawn carriage and fishing off the dock. Each Moderate spot has something special to offer for a “resort day!

Transportation

Most Moderate Resorts offer more than one form of convenient transportation to the parks, giving them a leg up on most of the Value Resorts. Caribbean Beach Resort offers access to the Skyliner via its Skyliner station — which is actually the hub of the whole gondola system.

The Cabins at Fort Wilderness offer a boat to Magic Kingdom, and Port Orleans — French Quarter and — Riverside offer the Sassagoula water taxi to Disney Springs.

All of the Moderate Resorts offer Disney bus transportation, and the only Moderate not to offer a second transpo option is Coronado Springs Resort. So you’ll get loads of amenities at that Resort, but you’ll be riding a bus anytime you need to travel via Disney transportation.

Moderate Resorts have a lot to offer guests who are able and/or willing to spend a little more for their Walt Disney World Resort stay. In fact, we love to call the Moderates our home away from home!
