For far too many months now, we’ve had a PeopleMover-shaped void in our hearts.

Closed for refurbishment since last year, it feels like it’s been ages since we’ve been able to ride this Disney World icon in Magic Kingdom, but the time has finally come for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover to reopen!
In 2020, when PeopleMover temporarily closed for refurbishment, Disney periodically delayed its reopening date for several months. Every time we strolled through Tomorrowland, we were left to wonder about the ride’s status and the mysterious updates taking place behind the scenes.

The last closure extension was the sixth time the date had been pushed back and had the PeopleMover’s opening date on May 1st. But, we got a surprise a few days ago and learned that the ride would reopen sometime this weekend.

Buuuut, all good things take time because the PeopleMover has had quite a few issues to start today. There was continuous maintenance taking place at the attraction as the ride vehicles kept starting and stopping. Cast Members weren’t sure about when the PeopleMover would open, saying there was “no estimated time of operation” and also possibly “later today or tonight.”

Then, Cast Members were evacuated from the attraction, which made us wonder if we would even see the PeopleMover open today period. But, at long last, the wait is over— PeopleMover is now OPEN!

After literally waiting for hours, guests were thrilled to be able to go up the escalator ramps towards the attraction’s entrance.

Guests were then loaded into the moving vehicles so they could start their ride-through! It was finally time!!

We were so excited when we sat in those blue seats as we made our “grand circle tour around Tomorrowland” to wave to other guests…

…to go behind the scenes of attractions, wait for Mr. Tom Morrow to answer his page (c’mon, dude, it’s been a year!), and take a look at Magic Kingdom’s atmosphere.

We had amazing views of Cinderella Castle from our seats (lookin’ good, Cindy)…

…as well as the ongoing construction of the new TRON Coaster near Space Mountain!
