A Restaurant, Three Pools, and Six Attractions Closed in Disney World This Week

Disney attractions will occasionally go down for maintenance or refurbishment.

Here at AllEars, we like to keep you posted on these closures, so you know what to expect while you’re in Disney World! Today, we’re bringing you a refurbishment update on all the attractions scheduled to be closed from March 8th through March 14th, 2021.

Animal Kingdom Refurbishments

Kali River Rapids

Kali River Rapids closed for its typical winter refurbishment this January. It’s common for Disney to perform maintenance on water rides during this season, when fewer guests want to ride.

It’s Tough to Be a Bug

It’s Tough to Be a Bug will be closed from March 8th through March 12th for a quick refurbishment.

EPCOT Refurbishments

Rose and Crown Dining Room

Rose and Crown Dining Room closed for refurbishment on February 15th. If you want to enjoy British food in the meantime, you can go to the Pub or Yorkshire County Fish Shop. They’re both also in EPCOT’s United Kingdom Pavilion!

The Dining Room is scheduled to reopen on March 21st, so this closure shouldn’t be too long!

Magic Kingdom Refurbishments

Walt Disney World Railroad

The Walt Disney World Railroad is currently closed to make way for construction on TRON: Lightcycle Power Run. Believe it or not, it’s been closed for over 2 years!

TRON construction will have to make significant progress before the railroad can open again. Disney hasn’t announced an opening date for TRON or The Walt Disney World Railroad, but our best guess is 2022.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

The PeopleMover closed in March 2020, and the reopening date has been pushed back several times. We saw testing on the ride recently, but the closure was just extended yet again.

The PeopleMover is now scheduled to reopen on April 4th, 2021.

The Hall of Presidents

The Hall of Presidents closes after each new president is elected, so it can install a new audio-animatronic figure. Currently, the show is closed to add President Joe Biden.

Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date, but we’ll let you know when they do!

Swiss Family Treehouse

The Swiss Family Treehouse is closing on March 12th for refurbishment. Disney hasn’t stated what type of work will be done, but it should be quick!

Disney World Resort Refurbishments

We’re also seeing some work at Disney hotels! The entryway, lobby, and monorail station are all being refurbished at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The guest rooms are also getting a Moana makeover! The work should finish this summer.

By the pool, Kiki Tikis Splash Play area at the Polynesian is also being refurbished until the end of March. The Big Blue Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is also undergoing construction. It’s closed through early April.

Lastly, the Paddock Pool waterslide at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort is closed for refurbishment. But the pool is still open!
