What Are the Interactive Experiences in Disney World’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Like Now? We’ve Got Answers!

We’re live from the grand re-opening of Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Kylo Ren and Stormtroopers

We are experiencing what it’s like to shop, eat, and ride attractions at the newly re-opened theme parks in Walt Disney World. Many of us were curious about how hands-on experiences like The Droid Depot and Savi’s Workshop would operate with social distancing measures in place. We stopped by both locations to find out!

The Droid Depot

The Droid Depot process is very similar to the procedures that were put in place prior to closure. Guests make a reservation via My Disney Experience and arrive at the depot at their given time. They line up outside the shop and wait in line until they are permitted to enter. The store has always had limited capacity and had guests wait outside until it is their turn.

Guests Waiting in Droid Depot

The only real difference is there are social distancing markers taped onto the floor and plexiglass dividers between stations. Guests are asked to stay within the boxes to create the droids. This creates distance between them and other travel groups.

Social distance numbers are also placed near the conveyor belt where guests pick out parts for droids. They are asked to stand on specific markers to not crowd others.

Savi’s Workshop

Savi’s is partially open and currently only selling Legacy Lightsabers. The full lightsaber-building experience is not in operation. When busy, we were informed that only guests intending to make a purchase will be permitted inside to look at the sabers.

Savi’s Line

The normal saber-building experience won’t be in play, but you can still walk around the room. This is to reduce grouping guests together for a long amount of time.

Experiences and attractions continue to change while Disney World ramps up again. We will continue to keep you updated as we learn and come across new things. Follow along with us as we find out the new processes and procedures for the theme parks!
