Ahh, the sights and sounds of Magic Kingdom. It’s hard to think of anything that could dampen the wonderful experience of being in the park — even the construction that’s going on there!

Let’s take a look at what sort of progress we’re seeing on the various projects over at Magic Kingdom!
Cinderella Castle
It was recently announced that Cinderella Castle would be undergoing a lengthy refurb to get some fresh paint and new gold accents. Well, we spotted the first signs of work beginning on the castle. But, no worries — it won’t ruin your picture!

From the side of the Castle, you can spot the work being done to drain the moat. This is likely so they can access the building a little bit easier during the refurbishment process.

On the other side, we also spotted some dreaded scaffolding. Although, this platform is pretty far from the Castle proper. It’s likely just to help with the drainage process, but we’ll be keeping an eye out!

Splash Mountain
Over in Frontierland, Splash Mountain is set to reopen this Friday, February 28th, so we’ll be in our laughing place pretty soon! The construction platforms have been removed in preparation for the reopening.

And the water had returned! It’s back to being a windy countryside river and we love it!

Liberty Square
We also spotted a surprise update over in Liberty Square. It looks like a new counter area had been added to the seating near Liberty Square Market.

This will be super helpful when the area is crowded. Even if all of the tables are taken, there will be another spot for guests to park and grab a snack!

TRON Lightcycle Run
And, of course, we can’t check in on the construction in Magic Kingdom without taking a look at what’s going on at TRON Lightcycle Run. It’s getting pretty hard to see progress as the building is almost entirely enclosed.

Still, from the backside you can tell that there is still much to be done (also evidenced by the crane). We suppose they’ve still got some heavy lifting to do!

We’ll just keep dreaming of cruising along that outdoor track for now. We’ll be riding TRON next year if all goes to plan!

My son and his fiancée are getting married in June and paid $$$ extra for a MK photo shoot including the castle. Booked last June.
Hi Melissa! The VP of Magic Kingdom has mentioned that the Castle should remain uncovered during its makeover, so that guests can still get great pictures!
