Tips for Disney Parks & Cruise Lines

Use a soft cooler that fits in the bottom of your backpack. In the soft cooler place frozen water bottles if you have a freezer to freeze the water. Be sure to open and drain some water before freezing. Water will stay frozen longer, also you can put other snack in the cooler that can be kept cool. It is good to place each bottle into insulated bottle holders of different colors (buy at a dollar store). The colors will be assigned to each person in your party to keep each person with their own bottle. - Valorie

We reuse our popcorn containers we get from Disney. They come in handy for many things. Our main use for them is to cut up fruit, like watermelon or pineapple, and store the fruit in those containers. Then the kids can grab their fruit whenever they want some and it's already cut up. BJ's Wholesale Club now sells Disney gift cards at a reduced rate. You can buy them in denominations of $25, $50, and $100. The $100 card sells for $95.99. I bought 10, which we will use to pay for some of next year's trip... that's a $40 savings on every $1,000 spent! - Brian McKenna

All Resorts - My wife and I get to go to Walt Disney World fairly often, so we always build "relax" time into our trips. Sometimes, that means going back to the resort for a quick nap in the middle of the afternoon. We find that turning on the "WDW Today" channel on the TV provides the perfect background music for this. "The nap channel" (as we call it) provides soft, instrumental versions of Disney songs. We hop in bed, turn the volume down a bit, and drift off to a rejuvenating sleep. And while I can't prove it, I'm pretty sure the music helps to make magical dreams! - Brian Lawrence

The best investment of my recent trip at Disney was two notebooks and a couple of pencils. They were real lifesavers to entertain the girls while we were waiting, or just when they were bored. They used them at restaurants, on the buses, in the stroller, in the lines, waiting at the shows... and they also used them as autograph books. We love the refillable mugs at the Disney resorts and find them to be a great value. Before leaving home, I purchase disposable dishcloths and spray them with a foamy dish-washing detergent, let them dry and place in a zipper top bag. Just dampen the wipes to thoroughly clean the mugs with soap and water. Each wipe lasts for several washings. No leftover, sticky residue; just a nice clean mug. Especially great if one member of the family has the sniffles. - Linda Jacobs

My husband and I spent a great week at "The World" last week. One thing I feel I need to pass along to parents with strollers, especially rented ones: Make sure you know how to fold them up if you need to use the buses to the parks. Florida Law states all strollers must be completely folded before entering the bus. The drivers won't let you on if the stroller is not folded up. We saw a lot of frustrated parents who did not know how to fold their strollers, especially the double side-by-sides. One time it took almost 15 minutes to get a stroller folded and about four guys trying to help. - Diane Dunigan
