For those who wear eye makeup at WDW, I highly suggest using waterproof mascara. I know from experience that if you get soaked on a ride, you do not want mascara running in your eyes. - Callie

As a large woman (5'8", size 20W), I was wary of the water parks. I have to say both were incredibly enjoyable with Typhoon Lagoon being my favorite. I've read how some have experienced "challenges" with the innertubes. I found the easiest way to get "on" was to pull the thing up on the entry stairs by the handrail. Climb aboard with your tush touching the step. Then use the handrail to give yourself a shove into the river. I would simply "roll" off when I was done. Seemed to work for me. - Kat

So I pack a "soup cup" in my carry-on bag, along with a plastic spoon and a few crackers or snack bar. These single-serving cups of dried soup mix are available at most grocery stores and are very affordable. They take up a lot of room, but they are much easier to transport than a sandwich. On the plane, I ask for two cups of hot water, stir it into the cup of soup, and then I have a hot meal, generally much cheaper than the airport fare! I often pack a cup for the return trip as well. It's especially good if you have allergies. Warning: the quality does vary among different brands, so try several. - Audress D. Johnson

Flower and Garden Festival For anyone who loves the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival as much as I do, here's a tip: Make reservations for the Akershus Princess Breakfast in Norway and arrive 20 minutes or so before your scheduled reservation time. As with all "in park" breakfast reservations, you get to enter the park before it is open to anyone. While this is nice at any one of the parks, it is especially wonderful at Epcot during this time of year. You can stroll around and take some beautiful photographs of the "floral sculptures" undisturbed by passers-by. - Laurie Sloane

Regarding James Steele's tip about using Monopoly money for children's WDW spending money, I may have another idea. Some parents I have spoken with have created a checking account with the "Bank of Mom and Dad." Purchases are written in the checkbook and register just like adult checks, and the child has to reconcile the checking account like we all do. For those whose children are of an age where addition and subtraction skills are good, this has several advantages. First, the child finally sees a real world use for all that "boring math." Second, learning how to handle a checking account at an early age makes use of the real thing later in life a breeze. And Mom and Dad have the "checks" to check the accuracy and math and allows recovery if a loss of the "checkbook" happens. It might even work to have a "deposit slip" available before the trip so that children can add to the balance from their own piggy bank or allowance prior to the trip. - Randy Berbaum

If your little ones are craving their favorite movie while on vacation, as my 2-year-old nephew (Toy Story 2) and my 5-year-old nephew (anything Power Rangers) were, bring along a portable DVD player. Many of the resort TVs have front plug-ins that will allow you to plug the DVD player to the large TV. They loved it. - Wendy J.

I found that a clear backpack will get you through the line at the security checkpoint quicker than it normally takes. Since security can see through the backpack they normally do not have to open it up. If you are worried about everyone seeing what you have in the clear backpack, than all you have to do is take a hand towel and pull it out before the security check point and, once through, place it in the backpack so that everything that you have cannot be easily seen. It also helps if you get a little wet and need to dry off. - Kelly Henrichsen
