Disney World loves to surprise us, but this time it’s not necessarily in the way you might hope.

If you’re heading to Magic Kingdom anytime this October, you’ll want to double-check your evening plans, because Disney’s brand-new nighttime parade, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, will not be running every night. The parade is skipping several dates this month thanks to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Don’t worry though — we’ve got all the dates for you and tips to make sure you don’t miss this dazzling new show. Here’s what you need to know before you stake out your parade spot.
What Is Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away?
Disney Starlight is Magic Kingdom’s latest nighttime spectacular, which officially debuted back in July 2025. Think of it as the modern successor to beloved classics like the Main Street Electrical Parade and SpectroMagic, but with upgraded floats, cutting-edge lighting, and characters you’ve probably never seen in a parade before.

This 40-minute extravaganza runs its route in reverse compared to the Festival of Fantasy Parade, starting on Main Street, U.S.A. and wrapping up in Frontierland. Along the way, you’ll see Encanto, Coco, Frozen, Wish, Moana, and so many other fan-favorite films brought to life with glowing details, whimsical costumes, and even a brand-new Disney character named Whimsy.

Typically, you can catch the parade twice a night at 8 PM and 10 PM. But here’s the catch—it doesn’t run on party nights.
Why Isn’t It Running Every Night?
October is prime Halloween season in Magic Kingdom, and that means Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is in full swing. Since the Halloween party has its own exclusive parade—Mickey’s Boo-to-You!—Disney Starlight takes the night off whenever the party is scheduled.

This might come as a disappointment if you had your heart set on seeing the newest nighttime parade, but it’s actually pretty standard practice at Disney World. Party guests are already paying extra for those special events, so the entertainment lineup changes to highlight the exclusive shows.
The Dates You’ll Miss Disney Starlight
Here are the exact October dates when Disney Starlight will not run in Magic Kingdom:
- October 7th
- October 9th
- October 10th
- October 13th
- October 14th
- October 16th
- October 17th
- October 19th
- October 23rd
- October 24th
- October 26th
- October 28th
- October 30th
- October 31st
That’s 14 nights in total where you’ll need to adjust your expectations if Disney Starlight is on your must-see list.
What To Do If You Want To See Disney Starlight
If your visit falls during October, here’s the best strategy:
- Check the official Disney calendar before you finalize your park days. If you really want to see the Starlight parade, avoid booking Magic Kingdom on party nights.
- Aim for non-party evenings. On those nights, you’ll typically have both the 8PM and 10PM showings to choose from, making it easier to fit into your plans.
- Stake out your spot early. Main Street, U.S.A. is the most iconic viewing area, but it also fills up the fastest. If you’d rather have a little breathing room, Frontierland tends to be less crowded.
- Consider the later parade. Historically, second showings of nighttime parades are less packed. Families with little ones often leave after fireworks, so if you can stay up late, you’ll likely get a better view.

Should You Skip the Party Nights?
Not necessarily! While you won’t see Disney Starlight on those evenings, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party comes with its own perks. Exclusive parades, special character meet-and-greets, limited-time treats, and a Halloween fireworks show make the party worth checking out if you don’t mind paying extra.

But if you’re choosing between the party and Disney Starlight, just know you won’t get both in one night.
Bottom Line
Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away is one of the most exciting new entertainment offerings Disney World has introduced in years, and missing it would definitely be a bummer. Thankfully, you can still catch it plenty of times in October—as long as you plan around the Halloween party schedule.

We’ll keep you posted on any updates to the show schedule, especially as Disney shifts gears for the holiday season with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party coming up in November.
