Magic Kingdom is the place to be if you like Disney characters, live entertainment, and classic attractions. This park has an incredible fireworks show, a colorful parade, and even some cavalcade performances throughout the day! But sometimes, things do go exactly according to plan.
Every once in a while, you may see a show cancelation, a performance change due to the weather, or even a temporary delay. Well, we noticed a modified show in Disney World recently, and we’re here to tell you what to do if this happens during your visit.
On March 8th, Disney announced that one of Magic Kingdom’s Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire performances would be canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
Sure enough, the 12:50PM show did not go on as regularly scheduled. Instead, the show was modified, though we did spot a good portion of the cast on stage. Despite Disney’s announcement, we were still able to hear the finale song, too.
So, what can we learn here? Well, first, we’re not here to comment on the cause of the “unforeseen circumstances” that prompted Disney to make the announcement. Yes, this is a theme park, but at the end of the day, live entertainment is just that — LIVE. That means you never know what may happen behind the scenes that may cause the show to end early or change.
But it’s not all bad news! Even if you hear an announcement overhead that a show is canceled, you may still be able to spot a few characters on stage, specifically for Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire, anyway.
Plus, many of Disney’s live shows, like the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, the Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage show, and even Fantasmic! have multiple shows throughout the day, so check the My Disney Experience app to see if you can catch a later show.
Moral of the story? All hope is NOT lost when Disney announces a show cancelation. If you’re looking for live entertainment, you’ve got TONS of options, and don’t forget that The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure is coming SOON to Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
