New Permit Shows Mystery Stage Lights and Set Coming To EPCOT!

Ever wonder what’s hiding behind the construction walls in EPCOT?

Sometimes the concept art of the EPCOT Transformation and the peeks down from the monorail just don’t cut it. Well, good news! We might know a little bit more about what’s going on behind those walls thanks to some recent building permits.

Walt Disney Imagineering recently filed two permits for the former Innoventions building that currently holds Creations Shop and Club Cool.

One of the permits is for the “Installation of lighting hardware” from a stage company and the other is to “Fabricate and install show set items” from an exhibits company.

Both contractors have worked with Disney on new attractions and refurbishments in the past, so what could the new lighting and set be for?

It’s possible that the permits are for new theming on the outside of the former Innoventions building. The lighting could even go along with the current Beacon of Magic lighting on Spaceship Earth!

It’s also possible the work is for a specific, unannounced show. EPCOT used to host a lot of shows in the Fountain of Nations area that is currently a construction zone. The lighting and sets could help with a future show or a bunch of future shows coming to this area.

It’s even possible that the work is for something inside the Innoventions building that has yet to be announced. After all, there’s a lot of space still in there behind Club Cool!
