With the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Disney’s invitation to live your Star Wars story we have been hearing the term “DisneyBounding” more and more. The increase in the use of the term comes as Disney has been promoting and clarifying their costume guidelines, which include the term “DisneyBounding.”

In its simplest terms, DisneyBounding is dressing in everyday clothes that when matched together make up an outfit that reminds you of a Disney character.
The term DisneyBounding is getting more attention lately because according to Disney’s costume guidelines anyone 14 and older can not wear a costume in the parks — that includes Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and events such as the Halloween parties on both coasts. But guests of any age can DisneyBound.

When you think of the character or attraction you want to DisneyBound as, think of the predominant colors, or recognizable traits, of the character’s costume. For example, R2-D2 is bright blue and white with a red accent. Now dig in your drawers and closet and see what you can come up with (don’t worry, we offer some help below).
Dressing as Rey, the heroine from the latest Star Wars films, includes cream or white jeans, a beige top, some brown boots, and it’s all finished off with a brown belt. Seems easy enough.

So now we understand what DisneyBounding is, it is important to remember some Disney guidelines before we explore how we can DisneyBound on our next Disney trips.
Not Permitted Attire Includes:
- All robes or military-style attire
- Masks, face paint, elaborate headwear, blasters or holsters (lightsabers are allowed) or hard items such as body armor, helmets or kneepads
- Full character suits
Let’s jump in! Since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is opening soon (August 29) in Disney World, and is already open to the public in Disneyland, let’s expand on the R2-D2 idea from above.
R2-D2 DisneyBounding might be a bit more complicated than Rey, but remember, you don’t need to replicate these ideas, they can serve as inspiration. Maybe you have a blue-striped shirt in your closet that you can pair with a white skirt or shorts and you’re all set. Finding a piece of red jewelry, a red hat, ribbon, or belt is icing on the cake, but not necessary.

It is pretty easy to DisneyBound as classic Disney characters as well. Take Pinocchio, for example. Pinocchio is known for his yellow hat and red shorts. Pair a few items of that color combination together and there you go! Adding a touch of blue in the form of a ring, ribbon, or belt can finish off your Pinocchio DisneyBound look perfectly.

We all need a Fairy Godmother once in a while. Now we can help you DisneyBound as her! This is an outfit in shades of blue with a pink or purple accent. Just don’t forget a magic wand and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo you’re the Fairy Godmother!

Celebrate the re-release of Avengers: Endgame this weekend by Disney Bounding as Iron Man. This might be the simplest DisneyBound we can find — dress in red and accent it with gold and you are Iron Man!
