Over 1,000 Disney Adults Agree — This Popular Attraction Needs To Permanently Close

We recently asked our AllEars.net readers which Disney World ride you think needs to permanently retire, and there is one overwhelmingly clear answer.

Magic Kingdom

Over at Magic Kingdom, you can find classic attractions like Peter Pan’s Flight, it’s a small world, and many more. You can also get your thrills in on the newly reopened Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, TRON Lightcycle/Run, or Space Mountain. Sure, all Disney Adults have their favorite ride, but we were surprised how many of you agreed that this one Magic Kingdom attraction should permanently go — Tomorrowland Speedway.

That’s right, over 1,000 of you told us that Tomorrowland Speedway has to go, and I have to say, I agree with you. Finley T. wrote, “Tomorrowland Speedway and it’s not even close. I actively avoid walking by it if possible.”

Tomorrowland Speedway

Many guests think that, between the gas fumes and the noise pollution, this attraction does not seem to fit in the Tomorrowland genre. However, this attraction is very popular with younger kids who love getting to drive themselves around. So maybe it could use a retheme?

Matt E. wrote, “Tomorrowland Speedway could get a refresh and a smaller footprint. Technology can allow for a better experience.” Another reader wrote, “Not retired but just reimagined is Speedway.  Electrify the cars and give it a new life. It’s in Tomorrowland, and it’s so last century.”

This could be similar to what is happening to Autopia in Disneyland. In 2024, Disney made a commitment to change one of its classic rides, Autopia, by converting the vehicles from gasoline to electric, which will happen in early 2027. Could this be a solution for Magic Kingdom’s Speedway?
